Default Wiping nape of neck in wudhu is based on weak hadith?
I've heard this from some Muslims but Hanafis do this. What about Maliki, Shafi'i and Hanbali schools is it in your wudhu?

Should it be done or not? Or don't worry about it too much - there's bigger issues?

Dont worry too much , wudhu will still be valid in either ways, forsure bigger issues to worry about.

On Pages 36-37 (of the .PDF) of Taleemul Haq (a book on Hanafi Fiqh), it is said that including the nape of the neck when making Masah (wiping with water) is a Mustahab act during wudu.
