Default Fantasysing is haram
Just heard this in a bayan here:
http://www.tasawwuf.org/audio/itikaf_urdu.htm

1) Keep the gaze lowered (do not look at the opposite sex that you are not married to). Even if you unintentionally sin it creates darkness and distance in your heart. For example you speak to a woman that you consider your daughter who is old enough for you to marry...then it is a sin. Give up feeling greedy for the world and the things that are within it. The Internet and the cell phone are very dangerous and will take many people to Hell.

2) Do not lie at all and keep a check on yourself. and do not backbite...if in a gathering where others are doing it, tell them to stop, or defend the person being talked about, or get up and walk away.

3) Keep your thoughts clean, do not fantasise about the opposite sex.

4) Watch what you eat and put in your stomach if it is haram (based on riba, stolen money or anything like that as well as haram ingredients it will ruin your spirituality).

There are many definitions, 2 I just heard in this talk.

1) It is sincerity towards Allah , and it is Worship of Allah and asking from Allah.

2) It is making a firm and complete intention that no sin will be committed and being dedicated to this.

Salams it's not about debating at all. Im just stating that for someone like us to say this or that is a sin there must be proof that there is actually a sin it. Providing aithentic hadiths or Quranic verse is a must to pass halal/haram etc

I learned shaykh has said this, I accept his views as based on the Revelation. If you knew the hadith and Quran you too would see that. I am not going to go looking for what you are asking for I do not have the time.

Those definitions will build your connection with Allah swt. Like I said there are many definitions all agree that it is a means of having a close link with Allah.

Oh i thought those pointers were from a talk of a scholor of Islam
That link took me straight to a website of scholors who are known to be well rooted in islamic scholorship. But khair really which one of these 4 are not obvious that its haram ? InshAllah there is plenty of hadeeth and quranic references for these and are considered common knowledge amongst muslims.
