![]() A man is not allowed to dye his hair black, except for the mujahid in the way of Allah or if one has a genuine medical reason. A woman cannot dye her hair pure black either but other colours may be permissible for the pleasure of her husband. Some of the scholars have commented that the reason of the prohibition is that to dye your hair black is a form of deception, i.e. it conceals your age. Wallahu alam. |

![]() Well the main reason (which should be enough) is that the Prophet ![]() Though I am sure there may be an explanation for it, it's one of those things where there may not be an explanation which we can fully comprehend and is a matter of Allah ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Why is the mujahid allowed and why are other colours allowed for the woman but not black? Dying it any colour would make you look younger not just black. Just trying to understand. Brother Shuayb is correct in that if Rasoolullah SAW said it it is enough but there is no harm in trying to understand. |

Mujahid is allowed to fool the enemy into thinking one is younger.

![]() It's because in Islam we believe in ageing gracefully and not worrying about losing our youth. Once you allow to dye your hair black if it has turned grey, you open the dam for all other possibilities. One look at todays cosmetics should make you see the hikmah behind that rule. We are travelers in this world, not its resident. |
