How close are you and your sister? If you are closer to your mother (than your sister), then I agree with the brother who suggested you start by telling her about the conversion. That said, if you are close to your sister and (I'm going to make an assumption so please forgive me) assuming she is moving back home... if you feel strongly that she will serve to mediate between you and your family when you do tell them, then maybe you should talk to her first. If you are not certain though, it may backfire. Either way, trust Allah (SWT).

May Allah (SWT) make it easy for you.
Well, I wouldn't necessarily say we're close, but we are definitely friends as well as sisters. She's actually moving to Poland for a year or so, thus the "mediator" role wouldn't fit at all. I believe I would tell my mom first, but I still just can't even think of how to do it.

May the likes of you increase.

May Allah SWT help you in every way, summa aamen, I strongly suggest you to give sadaqah (charity) whatever you can give, and make lots of dua (for this) after the obligatory prayers.

You and all new-Muslims will be in my prayers inshaAllah.
As you have recently reverted: Stay in touch with a Scholar, and always always always learn Islam from them and not through Google.
Now that you have faith, it needs to be nurtured and taken care of, knowledge is not faith, of-course you know this, how to increase the imaan? ask sister sudoku for details.

Sister, I wish some revert sisters would comment here... I don't feel comfortable leaving you without some help but feel like my hands are tied as I don't know how best to help you. I would suggest you dig through conversion stories here and online and read about how various people approached their parents about their conversion, what happened immediately after and how things changed over time. Here is one such story and this particular site might have others for you (I should add that I do not know anything about this site, it came up in a google search so please forgive me if there is anything there that is offensive to you). Ultimately every story will be different but there may be some obvious things to avoid or do.

Please keep updating this thread too (if you are comfortable doing so), so that other reverts who read your story in the future can learn from you too insha'Allah

You are on my mind and in my prayers.

[edit1: oops... forgot to add the link: http://muslimconverts.org/2012/02/09...uslim-convert/

edit2: here's a revert-sister-blogger (seems very friendly and approachable) who might be able to help you too: http://americanmuslimconvert.wordpress.com/]
