Asalamu Aleykum Wa Rahmet' ALLAHU Barakatoo
I've noticed that some Qur'ans have different Surah names than other Qur'ans: Example: Surah - Al Isra is also known as Surah - Bani Israel. Is it haram to read this, because the names of the Surahs are changed? Or is it normal, how does a Surah have 2 names, when one is released? Jazzakom' ALLAHU Khair |

A surah can have more than one name.
Surah Isra = Surah Bani Israil Surah Insan = Surah Dahr Surah Ghafir = Surah Mu'min Surah Fussilat = Surah Hameem Sajdah Surah Masad = Surah Lahab Surah Tawba = Surah Bar' You see, there are many surahs in the Qur'an that have two names. Its no big deal, and its not haram to read them. |

![]() A surah can have more than one name. A name is a name. You can even call any Surah by their # (which I know some people do), like Surah # X (whatever the # from 1-114). It doesn't change the content of the Surah (nauzubillah) and has no effect on the permissiblity of reading from such a Mushaf (printed copy of the Quran). Nothing to worry about Insha'Allah. Allah knows best. ![]() ![]() |
