Default Saudi Arabia mulls buying nuclear weapons from Pakistan: Report
http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2012/07...kistani-nukes/

A report has unveiled that Saudi officials are trying to strike “a secret deal” with Pakistan to buy nuclear weapons from the Asian country.

Citing the recent meeting between King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia and Pakistani Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in Jeddah, United Press International (UPI) said that “these events heightened speculation Riyadh is trying to strike a secret deal with Islamabad to acquire nuclear weapons.”

The meeting came as Riyadh has started sending its special forces to Pakistan for military training.

“Abdullah's surprise July 19 appointment of Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the kingdom's ambassador in Washington in 1983-2005 and a veteran of its usually clandestine security policy, as his new intelligence chief may be part of murky mosaic linking Saudi Arabia and Pakistan,” the report said.

It added that Bandar played a key role in the clandestine arming of Afghan militants during the 1979-89 Soviet invasion through Pakistan's intelligence service.

“It's long been believed that the Saudis bankrolled Pakistan's nuclear program, in the 1970s and '80s and now wants some reciprocity in the shape of readymade nuclear weapons, paid for by massive financial aid for Islamabad,” UPI said.

“Pakistan and Saudi Arabia may find that renewed military and nuclear cooperation is the best way to secure their interests," Christopher Clary and Mara E. Karlin, former US Defense Department policy advisers on South Asia and the Middle East, wrote on The American Interest.

"As the United States re-examines its military posture toward South Asia and the Middle East in the context of its withdrawals from Iraq and Afghanistan, it must explicitly consider the possibility of a Saudi-Pakistan nuclear bargain,” they said.

I don't even get nuclear weapons- how are they supposed to be used according to sharia? Is the only deterrent that the country does not get nuked itself (for fear of retaliation)?

exactly, it was invented by the yahud, Einstain and others and it is a disgusting weapon. Muslims argue that because they have it we also need it. Pakistan is not protected by owning it, North Korea is, Iran if they get it will also be protected, Sadams attempts to make them were destroyed by Isreal when they killed his scientists and bombed his facilities.

I read somewhere some years ago now that the biggest export market for Christmas crackers was Saudi, a strange country indeed.

LOL, just one word, presstv. It would be a surprise if even once we can read any condemnation of Assad on presstv, that's how reliable presstv is.

Allah Knows Best.

Arabs and Saudis in particular do not have that sort of thinking or even capacity to think beyond building tall structures and pleasing westerners

Saudis that think outside the box have no position of power or those who are in have been eliminated in one way or another

If anything Arab mentality is they cant do anything to annoy their masters in Israel, London and Washington

Saudi Arabia already possess Nuclear-ready Missiles in Southern Arabia within hardened fortified structures. They are chinese made to prevent the US from planting dodgy code (like which exists in Saudi F15s) to prevent launch etc.
They are only there as an extreme last resort - warheads would be supplied by Pakistan if need arose - I doubt Muslim brothers would need to exchange money. I am only writing this because obviously the intelligence services already know - but for the benefit of the people reading.
Saudi Arabia may have a lot of flaws, but they still possess some wisdom.
Nuclear weapons on civilian targets are disgusting and undoubtedly haram - however dropping a tactical nuke on a carrier group in the middle of the ocean in a warzone?- I can't make a pronouncement on that - I know a lot of nuclear war thinkers from the USSR and USA had prepared for just such an eventuality - in fact they both even possessed nuclear armed torpedoes.

the saudis cannot do anyhting unless they get some backbone and oust the western armies from their lands and sell oil on market price.

any careful observer would note that the same problem is with pakistan. only the armies are replaced by blackwater and the moolah they earn is through NATO supplies, selling mujahideen, massive funding for participation in war on 'terror', massive military support.

all a game of money. the honest among them can only look on helplessly or die.

[ofcourse one may wish to also read what islamic fiqh says on attacks on 'civilians' and 'non-combatants' and whether there is a difference between the two.]
