Asalaam u Alaikum WB,
Hoping someone can shed light to this confusion. Friend of mine has made me aware of a situation at his masjid (im sure it is being adressed but wants other opinions etc). The Masjid is over 40 years old and has had many expansions etc. Itikaaf has always been in the main prayer hall (tents in the back) This year the Itikaaf will be in the main hall (The elderley) the rest of the people sitting itikaaf will be upstairs (Majority). Normally upstairs is where the kitchen of the mosque is and the other hall (half of which is the ladies sections) the other half is used when the 2 halls downstairs get busy and full. Is it ok for the people of itikaaf to sit here? or does it have to be in the main hall? It would mean that at every jamaat the people would have to be going downstairs then back up to their tents. Can anyone shed any light on if this is accepted or not and pref back it up with sources please? If you have access to any Alim/Mufti and can ask them this also please do. |
