Default Tell me how Allah created this world

I know there's a wealth of information around but can someone please point me in the right direction. How did Allah swt create this Earth - I know he said 'be' and everything was. Was there an explosion and the trees, mountains etc. fell into place as they are? (This is from a recent discussion with someone).

Forgive me for such a simple question.

Dear Brother, Assalaamoalaikum

Your answer to this question should be: "The answer is with Allah(SWT)". You need not add anything to this.

Brotherly yours

Jk brother for responding. However, if children were to ask? Would it be appropriate to tell them what I stated in my first message or not? jk

I posted an answser to a simmilar question on another forum; i'll copy and paste it here and inshALlah that will help; for additional information on this, you can allways look up Tafsir Ibn Kathir.com and Al-tafsir.com; i'm sure you will find some usefull info. there :

The creation story basically goes like this in Islam that ALlah first created the light of the Prophet muhammad [saw] and then divided this light into four parts and from the first part He made the pen [which He ordered to write down the destiny of creation], from the second, the Tablet [where destiny of all creation? is written], from the third the throne [the greatest of Gods creation, which is situated above all of creation?], and from the forfth, everything else [1];

this is verry interesting as it accords to the modern astrophysical theory, which says that all of creation came from what is termed the initial singularity in which all of existence was contained in a point of infinte density and temperature. from this initial light which burst forth in what is known as the 'big bang', it split into four fundemental forces; the strong nuclear force, the electromagnetic force, weak interaction and gravitation. the forfth part mentioned above from which 'everything else' proceeded may refer to this gravitational force, which causes attraction between the particles of matter, allowing the seen world to exist and be joined together, and Allah nows best

In terms of how Allah created the heavens and the earth; basically ALlah created the earth in a preliminary/embryonic mode first, then he created the heavens and then completed the earth; He made the heavens and the earth in 6 days but these six days could refer to six periods of time, so it is not known to us exactly how long it took

In terms of the living creatures; the jinn [a spirit like creature that is made to worship ALlah and which has free-will] and the angels were created before man; ... then ALlah created man and put the first two parents of all humanity in paradise; the satan made them slip and the rest is history!

hope this helps

[1] The evidence for that comes from the saying of the Prophet muhammad [saw] which are called 'hadiths' [recorded/documented saying of the prophet [saw]

The hadith is found in the musannaf of al-Hafiz Abu bakr, Abdur-razak b hammam al-San'ani and considered sound by recent scholarship and it goes like this:

Jabir b Abdullah asked the prophet [saw], 'what is the first thing Allah created'?, the Prophet [saw] replied, 'oh Jabir, the first thing ALlah [swt] created was the light of your Prophet from His light and that light remained in the midst of His power for as long as He wished, and there was not at that time a Tablet or a Pen or a Paradise or a Fire or an angel or a heaven or an earth, and when ALlah wished to create creation, He divided that light into four parts, and from the first He made the pen, from the second the Tablet, from the third the Throne, and from the fourfth everything else"

The reference in the hadith of the light of muhammad [saw] being from 'His light' [Allah's light] means something like that it was a created light very dear and precious to ALlah and not that it was part of ALlah's divine light

Salaam

There is an opinion of which was created first out of mountains, trees, etc,; here is the tafsir regarding it:

(Allah created the dust on Saturday, and He created the mountains on Sunday, and He created the trees on Monday, and He created the unpleasant things on Tuesday and He created the light on Wednesday and He spread the creatures through out it on Thursday and He created Adam after `Asr on Friday. He was the last created during the last hour of Friday, between `Asr and the night.)

There is a difference of opinion whether these days were the same as our standard days as suddenly comes to the mind, or each day constitutes one thousand years, as reported from Mujahid, Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal, and from Ibn `Abbas according to Ad-Dahhak's narration from him

http://www.tafsir.com/default.asp?sid=7&tid=17982

so here is an intersting story you can tell to children

for further info. see link where some verses regarding 'creation' does seem to fit modern science...:

Salaam, may I just give a little advice? In regards to hadith Jabir May I ask that you go and research the topic and espicially this hadith. Search the rating this hadith has been given by the scholars of ahadith (it is said to be a weak hadith), check the validity of it being in Abdur-razzaq's Rahimahullaah works (as it has been said it does not exist in the older books, only in the newly printed edition), check the ahadith about water being the 1st creation and then everything being created from water (which are regarded as Strong ahadith) and also check the ayaat of the Qur'an which state water being the 1st creation.

Please understand, I do not mean any offence but wish to bayyan the truth before you use this as a source of daleel as there are ayaat and many strong ahadith which say water is the 1st creation. May you forgive me if I have offended you, but just revise your information and check what I have stated.

ofcourse you can sis

And dont be dismayed about differences of opinions; none of them are creedal matters thus they shouldn't be reason for contention between muslims

Salaam Abu Abdullaah, the "difference of opinion" as you put it is an advice for fear of spreading a weak/fabricated hadith instead of a sahih hadith which is backed up by the ayaat of the Qur'an. So I ask you to atleast look into the matter before displacing it as a "difference of opinion".

Jk to all of you. Inshaallah I will pass the information gained in this thread to my ustadh who can obviously pass it on to his elders if need be. Someone told my children that there was a big explosion and Allah made the world appear as it is, with the mountains etc in their place. I wanted to verify this. jk
