There is nothing as "Islamic" inventions.... Inventions are only scientific.

Also , how can you , a Pakistani , take pride in Arabs'/Persians' inventions?

It were Arab , Persian , Indian , Greek , Chinese etc etc inventions....Calling them "Muslim inventions" or "Christian inventions" etc is futile.

Muslims , ALL OVER THE WORLD , should now come out of the past and start working--most aggressively--towards science and technology , R&D , economic independence & prosperity , education , industrialization , political stability etc etc etc...This can be the BIGGEST service to Islam in today's age...

To free Muslim societies from the Western influence and Western claws , above mentioned way is the only way! ....

Plus : Great share of the works of geniuses from the past...

I actually agree with you in one sense, but would take it further and say that they are simply inventions by the individuals who actually made them. On the other hand, we cannot deny that individuals are products of their environments. To the extent that said inventions occurred in a milieu dominated by Islamic laws, values, sentiments, etc., it is perfectly valid to talk about an "Islamic" invention, in the same way it makes sense to talk about an "ancient Chinese" or "ancient Greek" invention. However, when it comes to individuals who did not participate in making the invention, but are simply proud because it was made by someone with whom they share a lot of DNA or culture-- that makes no sense to me.

Well, Muslims follow Islam. And the there was a far much contribution in Sci & Tech by Muslims. So, ultimately it becomes Islamic inventions. As that Age is know as ISLAMIC Golden Age too.

And I am not a Pakistani. I belong to Kashmir & live in Pakistan but Identity Card of Kashmiri people is different than other Pakis.

I've never understood people who refer to the period when Muslims indulged in science, inventions and etc as "Islam's golden age" Surely the golden age of Islam was when Hadhrat Muhammad Al-Mustafa (sallahu alayhi wasallam) and his Sahaba (ra) were alive? Also Muslims should stop dwelling on the past in terms of inventions, it's time for us to try a better the Islamic world in this age.

So many muslims point to great inventions from a thousand years ago as evidence of Islamic superiority over the West.

Face it; Muslims haven't invented squat in the last thousand years.

Hey people it's tome to wake up and get with the program!!

True story...........

brother sorry to correct you. it IS "MUSLIM" inventions. it is because of islam that allah gave muslims empires, hounour ect...and it was because of 100% obedience to allah and his rasool s.a.w that caused allah to give muslims advancement in science and technology and it is because of leaving and moving away from islam over the centuries that has led to down fall and utter misery and failures of the muslim world today. just take a look at how virtually all of them are clean shaved. seeing a muslim with a beard is a rare phenomenon in muslim countries especially like turkey. take alook at the mosques they are all empty except for a few old folks. take a look, virtually no body reads darood sharief on the prophet s.a.w daily or implements sunnats in their lives and our sins as a muslim nation are horrendous beyond belief and has reached way past boiling point, just look at all the sex grooming here in the uk and raping here in europe by muslims of white women and girls.

so u c, the reaon why muslims attained epic advancment in science and tech was all because of islam and the reason for us muslims having not invented anything for centuries on end has been due to leaving islam

notice the two names.

also how do you define an 'invention'?
only hardware cannot be called an 'invention'. though this is how the general term is understood by laymen.
research papers published in journals are all 'inventions' as they find something new in the field of science. most often the 'invention' is a new technique or improvement on an existing one via new methods. it might look dry to laymen but technically this is really hard work.

for my thesis and masters in general i research a lot of literature and i see many muslim names. though what really matters is what they are doing for muslims. they are unfortunately doing nothing.
but not all are the same: Dr. Mohammad shoaib the CEO and founder of Centre for Advanced Studies in Engineering has around 80 jounral publications to the best of my knowledge!...80!!...i am trying since february to get one conference publication (conference < journal) but 80!...and he is in his 40s or early 50s at best.

and i am sure there are many many people out there.
hint: anyone who is a PhD has 'invented' something new. otherwise he won't be a PhD.
there are PhDs on this forum.

Hey brother , I see you have some decent knowledge in this regard. Can you , or any other , make a 'website' of all the "modern" inventions by Muslim scientists? From 18th century onwards? This would be a good idea , no?
