i don't really know how to take yvonne ridley. she became muslim through the akhlaaq of the islamic emirate. she herself stated they treated her with nothing but respect. however, she's later stated that she doesn't like them. very contradictory...

When she wrote that book, she was at the best state of faith I guess. I'm reading "My Life with the Taliban" right now. Mullah Zaeef Sahab wrote it from a different perspective because he was one of the founder of the Taliban.
I want the book of Ridley to know about Taliban from a different perspective so that I can clarify the misconceptions of some muslims regarding them.

i was just listening to one of her (yvonne ridleys) lectures given in 2007, she was talikng about the taliban and she was totally in favour of them... it'll be real nice if marco100 can tell us how he came to the conclusion that she does'nt like the taliban.

I think she was against some of their rulings/decisions but nothing serious....there are numerous muslims who are against the taliban on some things but whole-heartedly support them against the US....she is one of them I think

Bro, if what you want is to clarify misconceptions regarding them, then please listen to this interview on NPR:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpcSEDnB9v4

And read this transcript of a lecture given at an American University:

I believe this (Part 1 of 12 and onward) is the full lecture.

EDIT: the section where the 'funny video' starts is in part 5 and it goes into part 6.
