Default Wiping face after Salah
Asalamu Alaykum Wr. Wb.

I have gone into a confusion recently. Many sufi scholars like the naqshbandi or the ones at sunnipath/qibla claim that wiping face after salah is sunnah.
The "neo-salafi" opinions like on islamqa, claim that it is bidah. Including Abu Mussab.

So can anybody make it clear, which opinions are strongest, and tell what to do if you can not wipe ur hands on ur head? Should you simply losen ur hands and nothing else?

JazakAllahu Khair. "From the help of Allah and a near victory, so give glad tidings to the believers" W/salam.

The fatwa regarding wiping face after duaa is given here:
The correct opinion is that it is Sunnah to wipe the face after du?aa. Saaib ibn Yazeed [Radhiallaahu anhum] narrates from his father [Radhiallaahu anhum] that Rasulullah [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam] would lift his hands whilst making du?aa and rub them on his face. (Abu Dawud vol.2 pg.106)

Hadhrat Umar [Radhiallaahu anhum] reports, ?When Rasulullah [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam] raised his hands for du?aa, he would not drop them until he wiped his face with them.? (Tirmidhi vol.5 pg.131).

Hafiz ibn Hajar [ra] writes after quoting the previous Hadith, ?Tirmidhi has narrated it and there other Ahaadith which corroborate its meaning. From them is the Hadith of ibn Abbaas [Radhiallaahu anhum] mentioned in Abu Dawud. (Bulooghul maraam pg.498)

The Ahaadith put together demand the qualification of Hasan.

Also from the bayan of sheikh Maulana Abdus Sattar (DB):
The etiquette of making duaa is one raises hands to the level of one’s heart and the palms face the heavens for the qibla of duaa is heavens. After making duaa, one then wipes his hands over the face and this indeed is a good sign of expression that he got something he asked for and he is sort of embracing the gift he got. This is a strange and beautiful way of expressing one’s servitude. Some question about wiping the hands over the face. Some ask about those who do not raise the hands or object doing so while making duas. The answer to this question is they do not value the royal benevolence. When we get a royal gift from a royal court, it is the sign of a good omen. When we get some precious, a very valuable gift, a beloved thing we normally embrace with our eyes.

I think this is the same reason for wiping face after salah. Allahu alam
