Default TV in Ramadhan - is it ok?
There are many "useful(?)" Ramadhan programmes on the Islamic channels during this month so are we supposed to be watching more TV?

Is watching the Taraweeh prayers beneficial? You hear the Qur'an but can't you just listen to the Qur'an on audio equipment? Would watching people praying in the Grand Mosque actually give you reward?

What about the news? There's nothing wrong in that? 30 minutes a day is enough. Otherwise you won't know what's happened in the world for a month.

But dramas, soaps, films and the usual rubbish should be avoided.

The correct answer would be no. It all depends on you and your intention. The more time spent on trivia would be time lost on ritual ibaadaa and that is what this month is for. Spiritually, uplifting your soul and cleansing it more and more till you reach a state where all that and more becomes second nature.
Even me typing away here is lost time for ritual ibaadaa.
BUT again everything depends on your intentions my sister, and also how your nafs, which then takes over in Ramadaan, has been molded outside ramadaan. This then dictates your commitment in this month when reward is multiplied so manyth times, that it boggles the mind. I mean Faraidh, 70 times!!
Thats why when you see some people start ibaadaa a month or 2 before and on eid day- whaa!! the noor on their faces is unbelievable!!
I Personally think the key here for people like us is to engage in charitable activities in this month, for example and it will then us away from other trivial matters.
Apologies if i sound condescending.

I am agree your answer miss Husnaa. You are saying is write. But i think that is not good to watch TV in Ramadan, because mostly people watch TV to spend our time in Ramadan. People are not watching the Taraweeh and not listen to Qur'an care full. People are like to watch dramas, films and other rubbish program.
