May Allaah ease the suffering of these brothers and their families and accept their sacrifice and make it a means for spreading Islam.

It is very sad and good news. One saathi passed away and he will be given the rank of a shaheed. The other 7 will return soon.

They should know the laws of the country they're travelling regarding missionary activities and that.

Is that the translation or is it a random thought that comes from your mind from time to time!

Tell me, what laws can one possibly violate that deserves a punishment of at least 19 years without notifying the family members or the native government of these people? Also, Tableeghi Jamaat does not speak to non-Muslims on their rounds so once again, where is the propagation and proselytization to non-Muslims happening?

Furthermore, most jamats go by invitation and stay at the masjids so again, tell me, what laws were being violated that needed them to be jailed for at least 19 years without informing Pakistan or their families or even those who hosted these brothers?

It is wrong to jail them for 2 decades they should have just deported them as soon as they were arrested.

Lastly just because someone invites you doesnt.mean you can go. I know for a fact the government of Eritrea is very strict on this , they don't want any foreign, strange ideologies being peddled to the locals for fear this would cauae religious tensions ...people who co existed in full harmony with each other for hundreds and hundreds of years despite them coming from various ethnic groups and faiths. The government has the same policy towards evangelist christian groups. And if you ask me this is a good policy, the jailing of those men for 19 years however is plain wrong and inhumane.

Well of course, this is what people would expect.

Lastly just because someone invites you doesnt.mean you can go. They had all their papers in order.

What strange ideologies? The Tableeghi Jamaat tells Muslims to pray, go to the masjids, and believe in Allah - almost everything else is relegated to scholars. Furthermore, why are you saying that they "should know the laws of the country they're travelling regarding missionary activities" when the Christians had done the same without any problems until recently? Officially, Eritrea even says that it does not expel missionaries. It just expels foreigners. Furthermore, Christian missionaries preach to both Christian and non-Christian groups, while the TJ does not preach to non-Muslims.

And people wouldn't be making a fuss about this issue if they had been expelled or denied entry from the start so what was the need to play devil's advocate and make the post that you made originally without once mentioning the bigger problem of the oppressive government and focusing on your presumption that the jamaat may have not had their papers in order.

Even the Christians claim that they are persecuted in Eritrea at the hands of the government but at least they aren't foreigners so their families at least know what has happened to them.

Look here, tablighi jamaat is a foreign Islamic movement with its origins in South Asia. The Eritrean Muslim people have been Muslims before the people of the city of Madeena even, you suggesting that they need to be told now to ''believe in Allah'' is such a slap in the face, they do not need to be told that, because like I said Islam reached there before most parts of the Arabian peninsula!

Ya'ni once you've become Muslim you don't need nasihah and mudhakarah...ever?

@Bro abdulwahhab,

Probably a better word would have been remind and invite instead of tell.

Eritrean Muslim people have enough scholars of their own who do such a great job. They are from them, speak the same language, have the same culture, the same history etc. They are the best for their people.

Those statements of yours goes so against your signature.

Sigh...

Abu Darda Radhiyallahu 'anhu narrates that Rasulullah Sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam said: Indeed, Allah will resurrect a certain group of people on the Day of Resurrection whose faces will be shining, and (they will be) sitting on pulpits of pearls. People will envy them; they will neither be prophets nor martyrs. A villager sitting on his knees said: O Rasulullah! Describe them to us so we may recognize them. He said: They are those who love one another for Allah and those who get together from various tribes and different places for the remembrance of Allah and are engaged in remembering Him.

This is such flawed logic that I don't even know where to begin. So I guess Islam was pointless as the Christians already knew about Allah? Jews already knew about Allah so what was the point of Islam?

It is all about reminders.

Eritrean Muslim people have enough scholars of their own who do such a great job. They are from them, speak the same language, have the same culture, the same history etc. They are the best for their people. An honourable scholar appreciates being reminded of a sunnah - even if he may know about it. An honourable scholar appreciates talks and reminders on the basics of deen as they reinvigorate the imaan - even something as simple yet profound as an explanation of laa ilaaha illa Allah.

Also, the jamaat involves laypeople. Do you see scholars going from door to door, reminding Muslims who haven't been to the mosque since Friday or since last Eid or since a few years? A saathi in jamaat is working mostly on himself but helping others in the process. You've been on this forum for so many years and you don't even know the basics of Tableeghi Jamaat?

I'm sure there are many Muslims in their country of origin who could do with reminders.. they should focus there instead of coming to peaceful Muslim societies who already have enough scholars, masajid, television channels, literature to gain more understanding of the religion, plus these are an arabic speaking Muslim people, so they can understand the Qur'an and ahadeeth easily.

One can just take a look at the mess the Muslim societies in South Asia are in because of 101 sects and groups. This should not be exported to other Muslim countries..spare them the fitnah!
