Default The importance of attending served breakfast/lunch/dinner without delay

I have heard that if you are called to a meal when it has been served, it is important to attend even if you are reading quran or praying a salah which can be prayed after the meal. I want to know whether this is true and how an act which fullfils your belly be a more priority then something that fills your heart with eman? Does the situation change if it is the parents that are calling you to the set dinner and you are in the middle of reading quran or praying a salah?

Jazakallahu khaiyrun
