A muqallid is someone doing taqleed [of a Madhab] and a ghayr-muqallid is one who does not do taqleed.
Walakom Asalam!
Thank you, I had to look taqleed up lol, Im very new at all this...So Yusuf Estes(if thats who was meant by the above) doesnt imitate the rulings/traditions of any madhab per se.

I'd like to add another very important Hanafi scholar to that list - Imam Abdullah Ibn Al Mubarak , the teacher of Imam Bukhari , was a student of Imam Abu Hanifa . And in a bayan of Mufti Khidhr, I heard that he is so trustworthy, that he is the only muhaddith in Islamic history on whom no other muhaddith has ever made any sort of kalaam on.
Salaam, I have a post on my blog on muftisays.com called "TOP 40" I have listed all the 40 Scholars who had formed the Hanafi School. I hope this is what you have been looking for. Scroll down to number 54. I am sure you will find the rest of the info a valuable asset, InshaAllah.

No offence to Yusuf estes, but on the video posted on Youtube from him answering a question about "Salafi" He doesn't even understand the correct meaning of the word which he translated as "I'm dead" and "I'm a dead righteous guy"
He does not TRANSLATE it. He tells you what it actually MEANS when you say "I am a Salafi". This means you are a sahaba, tabeen or tabe-tabeen! And we know that people from these generations are dead, so if you say I am a Salafi, then it really means your dead too!

You can be a Hanafi or Shafii, even though they "founders" are dead, because these are schools of thought. "Salafiya" is not a school of thought (a.k.a. Madhhab), it's a period of time. And it isn't a methodology (manhaj), because there are only 4 Unanimously accepted manhajs, and their founders are Absolute Mujtahids, and THESE are the manhaj of the Salaf. So if you are a hanafi, shafi, maliki or hanbali, you are upon the manhaj of the Salaf, and you don't have to be called a "Salafi".

There isn't no such thing as manhaj of the best three generation which is based on the ideas of a scholar of the XX century, who aren't capable of ijtihad!

Salam Alaykum

It would be great if someone could make an article, which would only name the chain of Scholars. Abu Hanifa --> First student ---> second ---> third ---> Fourth, and see how far we can get the list!

I know this much:

Sahabah of Kufa: Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra), Abdullah ibn Masood (ra) etc etc.
-------> Ibrahim An Nakhai
-------> Hammad ibn Abi Sulayman
-------> Abu Hanifa (studied with Hammad for 18 years i think)
-------> Abu Yusuf (one of the best students of Imam Abu Hanifa)

Abu Yusuf and Muhammad, from Abu Hanifah, from Hammad b. Abi Sulayman, Ibrahim an-Nakha'i, from 'Alqamah, from Ibn Mas'ud.

I have attached the chains. One is from al-Maturidi to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
The other is, from Imam Kawthari to Prophet Muhammad.

p.s. I have changed the names in albanian,
j = y
ebu = abu
el- = al-

I can find the original (english-transliterated) names if someone needs them.
