I don't quite understand what it means for someone to worship his/her desires? i mean, i enjoy eating certain foods and watching TV, but when can this turn into worship? Think how Rasool saw would eat and do it in his way - that ll become an act of workship Think what would Rasool saw do with a TV and you too deal it in the same way - that ll become an act of workship |

Worshipping ones desires means, when the Shariah says something and your desires want something different you give preference to your desires. For example it is fard to fast in Ramadan for a adult, sane, healthy, non travelling Muslim, but they do not fast...they are worshipping their desires. Someone is watching TV admiring the opposite sex on screen, forgetting to pray their fard salah, or praying it half heartedly because they are thinking about the show on TV...this too is worshipping ones desires. Going against the desires and giving preference to the sharia takes effort and struggle at first, but with this it can become easier. Being in the right company with like minded people helps to strengthen you as well. This is why one should spend time at least once a week for an hour or so with pious people and one should avoid bad company because they will influence you too. The more we obey the Sharia and avoid sins the stronger our ruh becomes...most of us however keep falling and for this we use tawba....this also helps us from becoming conceited and arrogant...because if we did not fall we might start thinking of ourselves as very goo and others very sinful...these types of inner sicknesses are deadly for our ruh and will makes us disliked in the sight of Allah
