Basically I'm a student. I spend long hours at school, and I really want to to read the Qur'an whenever I have time. But, my schedule is quite strict, and I thought it would be good if I could read it in school during breaks and all that, but I fear my wudu will be nullified. What can I do about this? I really want to read it at school, because I have quite a lot of breaks there...

You do not require wudu' to recite the Qur'an. Wudu is required to touching it. Hence, you can recite it via your cell phone or laptop, though, avoid touching the screen where the ayah's are if you do not have wudu'.

So if I was having the physical copy of the Qur'an, would the above still apply?

For that, wudu will be required. You could hold it with a cloth [i.e. if you wanted to move it].

yes for ahnaaf you could read with the cloth but the cloth if Im not mistaken should not be attached to you the holder-so you cant use your shirt that you wearing to handle it. you can turn the pages with a pencil too.

i thought that the leather covering was ok to handle without wudhu for hanafis. for us shafi's we cant even carry a bag that has the quran. we cant touch it with a cloth & we cant even carry it when it hangs from a string.

If the covering is separate from the Qur'an, then it is permissible, but if it is attached, then it is impermissible. The issue is whether the covering is attached to the Qur'an or if it is not; for example, many mushafs are covered in a cloth that has to be removed to open the mushaf and therefore, it would be permissible to touch this cloth. If the leather cover itself is attached to the mushaf, then it would be impermissible to touch it. Even those small, pocketsized masahif that one has to use a zipper to open and close cannot be touched without wudhu since the leather covering cannot be removed from the mushaf.
