Default How much did the Sahaba spend in the Path of Allah?
A.W, brothers and sisters, I have a query:
We hear many stories of how much the Sahaba spent in the Path of Allah. For example Aisha (R.A) gave 100, 000 dinars on one occasion in charity. How much would thatbe in todays terms? In pounds or dollars? I have done some calculations but I would like to compare with someone else's calculation to see if I've got it right.

Your opinions would be very appreciated.

Jazakummulaah.

bro

I had made a thread on Islamic Currency during the time of Rasoolullah . But I couldn't calculate the 'inflation' so the the values we get will be many times lesser than the real value. Here is the thread: http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...llah-%28saw%29

My Calculation on the values without adding the inflation will be:

1 Dinar= $300
British Pound: 190
Indian Rupee: 14,600
Pakistan Rupee: 26,000
Euro: 216
Saudi Riyal: 1,125
South African Rand: 2,350

So 100,000 Dinar will be around $30,000,000 . !

this is a really good thread on the contrary. I see a lot of benefit, we'll have an idea of the amount for one thing, and it would motivate us more in sha Allah

At a time when Rasullullah SAW speeches encouraging Muslims to infaq in the way of Allah, Abdurrahman bin Auf who contributed half of his property worth 2000 dinars, or about US$ 2.8 billion value for money at this time (the time he was not rich and the new property, or Rp. 5.6 billion). Top Sadaqah is he specifically prayed by the Prophet Muhammad which reads “May Allah bestow his blessing to you, to treasure what you gave. May God bless and also property that you leave for your family. “

Abdurrahman bin Auf have donated all the goods brought by the caravan trade to the inhabitants of Medina when the caravan was carrying merchandise which is carried by 700 camels which filled the streets of Madinah. It also noted Abdurrahman bin Auf had been donated by surreptitiously or openly, among others, 40.000 Dinars (approximately US$ 1.4 billion of money now), 40,000 Dinar (now worth + / – Rp 56 billion money now), 200 uqiyah gold, 500 horses, and 1,500 camels!

He also sympathize Badar war veterans who are still alive at that time with compensation amounting to 400 dinars / person (approximately US$ 560 million) for veterans whose number is not less than 100 people.
With so many infaq in the way of Allah, when he died at the age of 72 years still left the property very much that is composed of 1000 camels, 100 horses, goats and 3.000 respectively wife inherit 80 000 dinars. Yet the legacy of these wives each only ¼ of 1 / 8 (wife gets the 1 / 8 because there are children, then 1 / 8 is divided by 4 because there are four wives). This means that the wealth left by Abdur-Rahman bin Auf that time amounted to 2,560,000 dinars, or Rp 3584 trillion rupiah exchange rate as of this writing. The sahabi Abdurrahman bin Auf was famously wealthy and also spent famously. I don't know if the conversions are accurate, but 700 camels is no joke even today. I can't even imagine the value back then.

Sardad na dad dast, dar dast-e-yazeed,
Haqaa key binaey La ila ast Hussain

(Ruler is Hussain, Emperor is Hussain,
Faith is Hussain , guardian of faith is Hussain .
Offered his head and not the hand to Yazid.
Truly, the mirror of faith is Hussain)

[Edit] How many dirham is this head worth?
