it's really a good idea.last year I watched on al jazeera how many non-muslim people in France, during Ramadhan took part to the Iftar.it would imprees the public opinion and in a great event like the olympics it would be difficult for the controls to stop the "dawah makers" if they are well organized,it could be helpful printing some invitation to a decided place to where the Iftar will be made(if it is intended to make Dawah during Ramadhan)and leave them on the glass of the cars,in the mailboxes,in the marketplaces.many people would be interested.I used to do it before having children and it helped many people at least to reflect a bit |

I like that people realize that it is not pamphlets what actually converts people to Islam, but that it is their actions and their behavior. Becoming a volunteer, guard, anything like this will help to restore the image of Muslims. The Olympics are going to bring a big and diverse body of people from all over the world, but they are not coming there to seek religious knowledge, they are there to watch sports. I don´t think it is likely that many people will convert during London 2012, but if you look at da´awa as a continuing effort, your good behavior might be what will spark the interest of someone who might someday become Muslim. In this case, I am sure you will be rewarded.

Iftaar is a great idea. It gives an opportunity for discussion.
I thought that the leaflets were intended to spread religious arguments - nobody would read those during the Olympics. I am keeping my fingers crossed for your efforts brother, if you get a good team to organize everything, it could be very successful. |

A brother has wrote this: I was born and raised in UK - specifically East London. I live in an olympic borough and 3/4 of the olympic boroughs are some of the more Muslim populous areas. There will be a lot of people in our locality and while giving da'wah outside the stadiums might not work, handing stuff out in the generality of the area could be a very good idea. |

Olympic guests
How to be a positive Muslim Dear Brothers and Sisters as you know, the Olympic and Paralympic games are going to be held in London starting this month, (the Olympics and part of Paralympics will take part in the month of Ramadhan). By the mercy of ALLAH this event is taking place during the blessed month of Ramadhan (fans from all the world will come to London) to give us as Muslims of Britain a great opportunity to show our faith to the world especially youth people. How can we use this opportunity: 1) By showing a warm welcome to them, distributing books and flyers especially to non Muslim guests 2) opening the mosques for every body and getting ready to talk about Islam to non Muslims. 3) Iftar will be an excellent opportunity to welcome people (use it for Muslims and even non Muslims), Taraweeh (and the time after Taraweeh) as well should be used to interact and communicate with the London guests. 4) make your area (the front of your house, the mosques, the front of your business) all clean. 5) Communicate with the guests all the time, be first to help (if they need help such as showing directions, locations etc.) meanwhile call them to Islam Dear Brothers and sisters hundreds of thousands of people are coming to visit our city during this special event (we may not have such occasion an other time in our remaining life) lets use it positively and creatively. we believe we are holding the truth let us share it with people of the world, showing the beauty of Islam is our responsibility in our attitudes and behaviours our positive contribution in this society and towards our guests will have a big impacts on youth people of the world Let us be positive, let the world know who we truly are. Jazakum ALLAH khairan |
