Sorry if this sounds self-righteous, but I never learn Islam / Deen from the Internet, for ex. this forum itself, have never and will never inshaAllah, if I ever come across any new stuff, I get it confirmed by seasoned Scholars. This is so because many Muslims have got confused or deviated from the right path by learning about Islam from numerous 'Islamic portals' run by enemies of Islam. Which is why you'd find me encouraging even the new-reverts to consult local Scholars they can talk to personally. *No disrespect intended to the many members here - I'm just saying it in a general sense. There are very few authentic Islamic websites run by Ulamah's and or Madaaris. The random guy at the other end could be a bored teenager commenting on Quranic revelations. You can never trust the Internet. But Sunniforum.com, is an excellent platform to know about 'Muslims', to know whats happening in other Muslims lands, the stuff, this is where I can educate others as well as learn, get a different perspective than what is reported by the enemies of Islam for whom every bearded Muslim is a terrorist. ^With this as the reason for us to be staying on Sunniforum.com, shall we all agree [not a promise] that whatever may happen on the forum: Reasons like: 1. Members disagree with you on fiqh. 2. Members disagree with you on certain and or on various other aspects. 3. Members disrespect you. 4. Mods ban you from time to time. 5. Members don't comment on your posts. 6. Mods delete your threads. 7. Any other reason. We will survive all this and or willing to go through all this for the sake of the Ummah and keep giving your inputs from time to time on the condition of the Muslims [ Not necessarily on Islam / Deen / Fiqh / Etc ] in your place of living or in your areas of knowledge and expertise. Why only Sunniforum.com and not on any other [online] place? Mainly because [Alhamdulillah-All praise be to Allah SWT] this is a strict forum. Summa Alhamdulillah! a) No useless discussion allowed or encouraged with the opposite sex. b) No animated images / pictures allowed to be posted, even on avatars in accordance with Shariah. c) No private messaging / emails IDs can be shared [except for very important issues] - curtails creation of sub-groups. d) Many of the mods themselves are Scholars. e) They are generally strict on many other fronts - which is great. MashaAllah. (I'm not a member of any other Islamic forum except SF, mainly for the absence of the above points, I don't even browse them as a Guest) This is not to say you have to be here 24/7/365 - DON'T EVER! I feel logging in to see what the topics being discussed [Muslims] twice every fortnight or whenever there is a major issue facing Muslims, is more than enough. What I'm strongly against is when members outrightly leave the forum for ever [would they leave their jobs too if it happens in their workplaces]? As long as you are a Muslim in the books of the Non-Muslims, you should be keep doing gusht / jowla here [except for Qadiyanis of-course]. So I request you if you agree with me on those points, please show your support by voting in the poll, that you agree with and never leave the foum inshaAllah. Did I say JazakAllah ?? I just did Correct me if I'm wrong. This small effort is for the sake of Allah SWT. |

Ahem! should not one consider their intentions when posting on the forum. If the intentions have beome corrupted if one is affected by the praise and dispraise of others, if the diseases of ujub and takabbur have taken hold then one needs to seriously reflect if the participation is of benefit. Surely only that deed done purely for the sake of Allah has any Barakah in it, everything else fruitless. |

Akhi the message is not very clear actually.
If it is a tutorial then you are trying to tutor people to not leave SF. This looks like a good effort. On the other hand you have a poll. This asks whether people want to leave or not - now that is begging a question. My suggestion will be that you make a simple thread titled Do Not Leave SF Because of Members' Behaviour. And in fact that matter can be said in one article - at the most. In my view the matter can be dealt with in a medium size post. |

Well I think yes situations differ from people to people. Sometime people need temporary break or even a permanent one depending on their state be it a spiritual one or anything. Till we are alive, somehow the ummah will contribute to our lives and we inturn will be doing something directly or indirectly to ummah and SF is not the only platform to do so. As far as some of the features that SF adopted, these are really appreciable and should be definitely adopted by other forums like being strict on opposite gender interaction, preventing the PMs and so on. In these times of fitna, these things should be strongly considered for failing to do so can bring greater spiritual damage to the individual and to the ummah as a whole. Unfortunately these things are very relaxed in most of the muslim forums playing with spirituality of a Muslim knowingly and unknowingly most of the time by opening door to shaitan and corrupting the youth. In this way, Sf is really good in acting responsibly. I really wish this forum gets more and more improved with the time inshaaAllah. Let Allah SWT guide all the people here. Ameen Allahu alam |

@Julaybib, but thats why I said keep giving your inputs on the conditions of Muslims at your place and not on Deen. @Maripat, poll = tashkeel* *Workers of tabligh won't let you go without that... @mercyofAllah, you are very close to what I think. Its all about Muslims here - SF can be a great alternative to Non-Muslim news portals. Hope I'm clear. |

Insha'Allah. yes pluto the nature of this poll requires it to be anonymous, and your wording of the first option can imply that whoever chooses option 2 for a plausible reason is not too much in love with the Ummah. |

Pluto, I appreciate your efforts here, and I think you have made some really good points in your post, but I wanted to comment on your statement that I have quoted. While I agree with you that facts and information should be checked for accuracy, and there is a great deal of misinformation floating around, not everyone has the benefit of studying Islam with a scholar outside of the internet. Some people live in remote locations. (I never cease to be surprised at how far reaching the internet is, located in even the remotest and more surprising of locations.) Greetings Sister PouringRain, sorry for the late response, was busy so couldn't respond earlier. Your user-name reminds me of one of my favorite pastimes: Video in accordance with Shariah Anyways, sister, coming to your question, I do understand what you mean to say, yet in Islam / the great Scholars place a great deal of stress in the 'experience' of seeking knowledge / in the pursuit of knowledge, through the Internet, one may en-quire the 'knowledge' but never the 'essence' of Islam. Believe me sister, there's nothing like physical company of a Scholar [Male / female scholars ] to seek knowledge from. Of course, for each and everything, it may not be possible that for each and everything to leave your home, but one needs to connect with a scholar at some point in the beginning, the true scholars through whose efforts there is still some semblance of REAL Islam in the world all made great sacrifice of wealth and time just like the companions of the Prophet [pbuh] did. Today we too do the same thing but for worldly education Today we all make such sacrifice's to acquire worldly education, we spend millions, spend years and years toiling to get an undergraduate / post graduate degree which stays relevant only for the next 30-40 years, then why shouldn't we [at-least] give a part of that to learn about those matters which will make or break our life for eternity! Do you know even the mods concur with what I've said: Mod brother Rahmaniyyah... Readers are advised to take knowledge only from the 'Ulama [Scholars] - not a random poster behind a computer screen. Around me I'm seeing people even from remote places doing everything they can to get educated the traditional way, around where I live an online degree course / correspondence / distance education isn't even considered when applying for a job. Really sis, its all about the essence. There are numerous traditions which talk of sacrificing one's wealth and time in seeking knowledge. I humbly request you to read the following incidents from the Companions [ra] of the Last Prophet, Prophet Muhammad [pbuh] and other Scholars [rh]. Correct me if I'm wrong. I will make Dua to Allah SWT to guide you to Islam, inshaAllah. This minuscule effort is for the sake of Allah SWT. |

Pluto, I agree completely with taking advice from scholars and not from random internet posters. I also understand and agree with what you are saying about spending ones time and money in order to pursue authentic knowledge. It is said that if you look at where a person's money goes, then you see where their heart truly is. And finally, I agree that through the internet alone, one can acquire knowledge, but not the essence. But I still say that connecting with a scholar off-line is not always possible, and the internet is a primary source for those individuals in learning Islam. My intention is not to make an excuse for individuals. In fact, I would say that there are very few who I have come across where this is a very real problem. But it does remain a problem. I think it is good that there are scholars on-line who answer questions, as well as video lectures, books, etc. But I agree that through the internet, the essence is missing.

@Julaybib, Maripat, Acacia, mercyofAllah, Maripat, Salman_Madhabi, a.s,
Alhamdulillah, many of you are talking about ikhlaas, but does it really come into the picture here in this case? Lets analyze: 1) Workers of tabligh would know tashkeel is done in front of everyone - everyone knows the names of the people who are going in khurooj [naqad tashkeel] yet, the 5th point is ikhlaas - why is that? its so because it creates a culture of leaving in khurooj, ikhlaas doesn't come into the picture here. Most importantly, 2) If Shaykh ul Islam Mufti taqi Usmani db, or Maulana Sa'ad db or Mufti Ibrahim Desai saheb db or Shaykh Riyadh ul Huqq db or Shaykh Zulfiqar Saheb db or Maulana Arshad Madani db or Imam Sudais db talk of a cause, visit a place, recommend a book, wouldn't we hop onto the boat ourselves? Now if I make the poll anonymous - which means nobody knows who's in and who isn't in , yet, how are the others to get motivated, how are the others going see the wisdom esp. since almost all of you have agreed that the reasons are good enough... for ex. yours truly will see who all have voted in the poll, and I find Ahmed, afrikihuqq, dr76, abu hamza, a.s, servant of Allah, samy3660, seekeress, danyalm & syamuj and I'll think this looks great, I'm on! Perhaps, this poll doesn't require a 'No' ........just a 'Yes' to know who is in. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm awaiting your responses. esp. Julaybib and faizanakram99. |

@Julaybib, Maripat, Acacia, mercyofAllah, Maripat, Salman_Madhabi, a.s, OH! well it is not a matter of YES or NO...i selected option two not because i am against the reasons which brother pluto wrote rather NO referred to "i may not stay on SF permanently"..thats it...! The reasons brother pluto wrote...i agree with them...! i say YES to them but platform should not be SF it should be practical like tabligh...! Regarding LOVE FOR UMMAH...well posting on SF doesnt prove that one loves ummah...there are a lot of people in this world who love ummah more than we love it like Maulana Tariq Jameel, Maulana Saad SB DB and all other mashaikhs and ulemas and other saathies , workers of tabligh or any other effort of deen...there are people who lost their homes, their children, their wealth for the sake of ummah...they love ummah...really....indeed more than we love ummah...but none of them is on SF...so brothers, sisters....who doesnt love ummah....every muslim loves ummah...but SF is not the only way, only effort to show your love for ummah...to work for upliftment of ummah...their are other ways...which are better than posting on SF...! i would not say...but will have to say this thing...! IF i would not love the ummah, why would i do mulakaat (meet muslims) daily, why would i talk daily to one or the other in our locality or in my college regarding islam....why would i pray for the ummah...why would i spent 3 days, why would i spent 40 days, why would i go markaz , why would i do gasht, why would i do taleem in my masjid, why would i do all these efforts...! Love is something within heart...one cannot know how much you love anyone...only ALLAH knows it...! Anyways...NO was just for SF thats i wont be most probably stay permanently on SF...NO was not for ummah....Alhamdulillah, Summa- Alhamdulillah...Allah makes me to do effort of deen in the form of tabligh...Alhamdulillah....Brothers, sisters you know what....when we will sacrifice our time, wealth, qualities, lives for the sake of ummah, Allah will fill our hearts with love and concern of ummah...! i love you all as all of you form ummah....hope i didnt write anything wrong and hope you got me...! i am not against SF, i like SF and members of SF but it is better for us to join practical effort if we really love ummah....! Check your localities, cities, how many of our brothers, sisters are far away from Allah...wouldnt making practical effort on them be better than posting on SF....i am not against posting on SF but the thing i want to say is...Effort of deen is one thing and Talk of deen is other thing...... Ummah needs effort not talk....talks are not discouraged...but efforts should be considered as prime objective.....Our beloved prophet Muhammad did a lot of effort, our beloved prophet and his whole family remained hungry for days long just for the sake on ummah...Remember incident of Taaif...what people of taaif did to our beloved prophet and how much abu-jahal harmed our beloved prophet Brother, sisters what we do these days besides talking....common.....when our prophet made sacrifices why wont we make it....why we hide ourselves from making sacrifice...why dont we do practical effort...! Allah bless you all... i am sorry , if i wrote something wrong or if i wrote something in a wrong way...! Love you All..! |
