Default List of Hanafi Scholars
Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatulahi Wa Barakatuh

I am currently in the process of producing a list of Hanafi Scholars from the time of Imam Abu Hanifa (Rahmatullahi Alayh), solely for referential purposes.

So far I managed to produce the following list:

Imam Abu Hanifa
Imam Abu Yusuf
Imam Muhammad
Imam at-Tahawi
Imam al-Maturidi
Imam Ibn Abidin
Imam Jalal ad-Din Rumi
Imam al-Kawthari
Imam al-Marghinani
Imam al-Maydani
Imam abi al-Izz

Inshallah, if anyone could assist me in regards to information or resources it would be much appreciated.

Jazakumullahu-Khairan

Assalamu alaikum,

I think you can find books called "tabaqat" which discuss the ulema in a particular madhab along with their ranks.

Are you aware of any online resources?

Also, where can I buy the book online?

Assalamu alaikum,

I believe Mullah Ali Qari also wrote a tabaqat - is it correct?

If you put a list together, try to give it an order chronically or by rank for example.

I'd like to add another very important Hanafi scholar to that list - Imam Abdullah Ibn Al Mubarak , the teacher of Imam Bukhari , was a student of Imam Abu Hanifa . And in a bayan of Mufti Khidhr, I heard that he is so trustworthy, that he is the only muhaddith in Islamic history on whom no other muhaddith has ever made any sort of kalaam on.

No offence to Yusuf estes, but on the video posted on Youtube from him answering a question about "Salafi" He doesn't even understand the correct meaning of the word which he translated as "I'm dead" and "I'm a dead righteous guy"

I noticed that too. I think some people have serious difficulties to understand what meaning the suffix i conveys.

I think they are very very moderate salafis. Yasir Qadhi does not attack the madhahib and accepts the differences. Yusuf Estes is a salafi maybe, but I never heard him attacking others.

Ghair-muqallid would probably be a more appropriate label.

I take it that Salafi's attack others? Whats a Ghair-muqallid I did a quick search but only found something about a man named Syed Abul A'ala Maududi, but I didnt see an explaination of what it is. Sorry again for asking in this thread.

A muqallid is someone doing taqleed [of a Madhab] and a ghayr-muqallid is one who does not do taqleed.
