She checked whether I am in or not.
Then she came back after a few minutes. "I have been to Madinah and this is for you", she said with all the hesitation, wary of a pending refusal of the gift. Yours truly accepted with thanks. She is from a different group and yours truly had done nearly zilch for her. But that was enough for her to remember the sinner there in Madinah! And that is what has to be kept in the memory - she remembered because Allah (SWT) made her to. And if Allah (SWT) remembered you once then that gets precedence over all those times when you were not remembered, when His Mercy was not inclined towards you. The drift is towards what is called positive thinking in modern parlance. Since every think modern has to be thoroughly tested before it can be accepted in Islam the same is true for the concept of positive thinking. Luckily we have a tradition that says that let none of you leave this world except in the state of having Husn-ad-Dhann with Allah (SWT). But even before that some thing is required. Jannah has been covered with hardships. It is in times of hardships that we get unstable, shaky. Such wonderful gestures from Allah (SWT) as a gift coming out of no where can serve as the signs to keep us cheerful in difficult times. For times sometimes can be very difficult. So a single blessing, a single good experience, is a reminder for a life time for believers. And that is what we have to remind each other. |

So a single blessing, a single good experience, is a reminder for a life time for believers. Amazing is the fact that how our mind manages to incorporate so many thoughts at a time.At the time of despair the thought of Allah's blessings and at times of hope the thought of not deserving such levity, the thought which brings proximity of Allah. These thoughts and feelings are itself a blessing of Allah and one of his signs. |
