Muqadama Ibn Salah, although and entre into the science of hadith, yet is not a book for the beginners. It is taught in the takhasus levels. The simple reason being that it is one of the early texts on the topic and hence not clear and uptodate with the istilahat...

We normally start off with Nukhbatul Fikr and it sharah Nuzhatun Nazr, both are available in english too. But even before than we did Introduction to the sciences of Hadith. Even Mufti Desai Saheb db. has a small booklet on the issue. Kherul Usool, which is also translated is a good pocket size glossary to these mustalahaat. There are a couple of arabic entry level books which are very good. InshAllah I will get the names for you.

you quoted two texts..

a. Mufti Desai's Introduction to Hadith..

http://www.al-inaam.com/Books/Introd..._to_Hadith.pdf

b. Kher ul Usool. Maulana Muhammad Abasoomer translated it (i think)

I dont have a link for this one.

Assalamu Alaikum

Its an excellent translation. It is complete at least the parts I've read with the original Arabic text. The English is beautiful.

Wow, i've been lurking for this book since a while ! Do someone knows if it's findable in .pdf format ?

Same request with the same translator, but with the book Taqdima of Ibn Abi Hatim Al-Razi ?
