We know of Murabatun's puritanical stance and do find them commendable but the reality is people aren't going to change overnight and some sort of workable solution is needed to deal with the usary dominated economic model. so islamic banking system should not be critisciesed for various shortcomming in its infancy. This is really about the ulama as Su who get paid hundreds of thousands of pounds a year to certify 'Islamic' finance deals for the big banks. I am not sure why you refer to them as puritanical...Puritans historically were liberal on riba and strict on clothing style.

Do you have different defination of the word. Murabits are puritanical in its economic model!! this is a well known fact. What are you going on about strict on clothing! The principle is described and yes most people can asily act upon clothing then economic model of Murabits. not everyone in the ummah are as focused as murabit in their economic stance. People are trying to get their ends meet and often forced into the situation where riba based economy is rife. This leaves two option fight it, change it or live with it! I prefer the first two option but one has to judge peoples ability.

Muslims have to fight to establish the halal. They need to do this as a Jamma, nothing can be done as isolated individuals who go to the masjid 5 times a day but lack leadership and unity in their other affairs. Muslims need to be aware of the world they are living in and how it works so they can devise strategies and tactics of not just survival but prosperity and growth. They need to know that if they remain as they are in Europe especially they have little hope of progressing beyond just being immigrants. Immigrants can alter the host society for the better, Muslims can alter Europe if we learn about Europe and work to establish Islam.

Immigrants can alter the host society for the better, Muslims can alter Europe if we learn about Europe and work to establish Islam. scheme will not be damaged. Let's put the hope on native European reverts who may alter the European society in a positive way. Sadly, many of these reverts fall into the hands of Salalfi brothers or the desi brothers who show a cultural Islam which looks bizarre in European setting. |

AFAIK , Most of the immigrant Muslims came to Europe to make money. So, they do not bother to rock the boat so that their money making apart from in the case of some Sufi tareeqas, it tends to be the Islamists and Salafis who welcome them most therefore that is who they end up with. Sadly, as far as I have seen there has been little effort by Deobandis either to invite European non-Muslims to Islam or to support new Muslims, but this needs to change if they want to put real roots down in Europe rather than the superficial ones they have now - a key start to this would be establishing more institutions along the lines of Ebrahim College (teaches Alim course in English), which are attractive to a broader segment of Muslims than many Deobandi institutions in Europe, that apart from the ugly buildings and the bad weather outside are like little pieces of Pakistan. |
