salaam alaykum
in regards to getting married, is it okay to do the nikah and then do the actual wedding day ceremony and walimah at a later date in the future? I am asking this because i am planning on getting married at the end of this year, InshAllah! and i want to do a small wedding, just a nikah and then a walimah at a later date. Whether my parents will allow that i'm not sure, but if they dont allow it, how do i convince them? because they may bring my personal circumstances into the idea of getting married instead of following the qur'an and sunnah even though my parents are very 'religious' so to speak and they always have been but they have a tendency to delay certain things due to studies, money, job status etc.. which has always bugged me but i dont know how to work around that! any ideas or advice will be well appreciated! In order to convince your parents that they should let you marry, look at the ruling on marriage (in your case, it may be obligatory): http://spa.qibla.com/issue_view.asp?...=3122&CATE=202 With regards to delaying the walima, this is permissible but it is sunnah to have walima after consummation of the marriage: http://www.central-mosque.com/fiqh/walima.htm I pray you have a successful marriage, ameen |
