Default question about prayer
salam wa aleikum

are you allowed to pray a fard prayer twice? Like lets say I pray Asr by myself, not knowing I was going to be able to pray it Jamaa' later. Today I prayed Asr by myself, but I forgot that my Masjid does the Iqama a bit late so they had Asr prayers and I prayed with them even when I prayed by myself.

Is that allowed?

Im not a scholar, so insha'Allah someone will correct if I've erred.

If you've already prayed a particular prayer, and then join jamaat for that same prayer, your jamaat prayer will count as nafl. But since there's no nafl after 'Asr or Fajr, your jamaat doesn't count.
Bottom line: Your first 'Asr counts, second one doesn't.
