My question in short is : 'Is there a good 'Islamic' equvalent of Mister Maker/ Octonauts/ Ballamory'?
We don't have a TV in our house, my kids generally manage without it. But sometimes (after they have been to their relatives houses ![]() So I put something like 'Adams world' on for them - no interest what so ever. Mister Maker/ Octonauts/ Ballamory (on the internet) and they are glued!!! (no suprises there). So can you brothers and Sisters please recommend Islamic/ suitable programmes that aren't boring that I could show them without corrupting them with singing and dancing, etc. I don't mind buying the DVD's as long as they do the job (entertain my kids). Suggestions please...... Jazakumullah in advance |

I think you will struggle to find anything interesting for your children. My children are in their teens now but I struggled to find anything that would hold their interest then, by now there ought to be something available.
We just have to learn to entertain ourselves maybe like human beings have done for thousands of years before the appearance of mass media. I lost out on creating a deep connection with my children because I got divorced, I used to like having family meals together and sitting together later, reading them stories etc. Television tends to trance children out and make them into passive adult consumers after they grow up, regardless of the content. see amazon: Remotely Controlled: How television is damaging our lives [Paperback] |

If there is something that can get you children busy all day maybe that would be better? I don't ever propogate watching TV but there is a DVD series out there called the Misri bunch:

"so i allow them to lay with anything they want and run riot around the house. keeps them distracted and happy!"
lol, sounds like the house of madness. lol, I kinda do taht as well, but the noise!? Arggggh. How do u keep ur sanity? Unfortunately we dont have a big back yard where they could play. And if I let them play outside (at the front) Ive gotto keep an eye and chase them around which is still hard work. Allah help us all ![]() |
