Thank you for the link. Most of the Arab dictators had lifestyles ordinary citizens of their countries could only dream of, it is good that they are gone. I still wonder sometimes if it was permissible to remove these dictators as I believe we should obey our rulers as long as they are Muslim. Was Gaddafi or is Assad a real Muslim though?

Back to Syria - they can try using PR all they like, but the whole world has seen their real colors.

the question is not if they are "real" muslims, as this could be interpretted to me we are calling them kafir on the basis of not being a "good" muslim.

In the shariah, everyone who says they are muslim, are muslim until there is a proof taht they are kafir. They cannot be removed unless they have been proven to be kafir.

Assad HAS been proven to be kafir and so there is no problem with removing him, but each country should be judged on a case by case basis. Bear in mind that living a life of luxury, stealing peoples wealth etc dont make you a kafir. In the eyes of Allah these are hated things but there are other things which are worse. Something must be considered kufr akbar in order for it to be sufficient proof to remove them
