Officials said four unknown assailants riding two motor bikes intercepted a car, carrying Maulana Aslam Sheikhupuri and his four guards, and opened indiscriminate fires on it from the two sides.

“All of them sustained bullet injuries and were immediately shifted to Jinnah hospital where Maulana Aslam and two of his guards succumbed to injuries, while another wounded man is being given medical treatment there,” a police officer told SAMAA on the spot.

Police says the attackers managed to flee from the scene.
