Default Were idols destroyed during Early Islam?
I know that the Prophet came to preach Islam and to rid the Arab world at that time of Paganism, and even told the people to stop worshiping idols. I would just like to know did the Prophet or any of the Sahaba destroy the idols themselves during that time? Is there any documented evidence or hadith about this? If so, it is not a Sunnah to destroy idols that we currently see around us? Especially for muslims in India?

well idol in kabaa were destroyed, since kabaa was constructed by muslims, and these pagan idol should be removed...

but there were some pagan idol from other religious group like Zoroaster still standing now in Iran, meaning the sahabah or tabi'in did not destroy the statue....

i remember some dakwah, something like, if the pagan community become muslim -all of the community's member-, then it's the obligation of the community to destroy their pagan Idol.
but if it's plural community, then muslims must respect other religion, so there are should be no temple or idol destroyed in protected non-muslim community living under Muslims nations or it's not obligations for muslims minority to destroy other pagan Idol in non-muslims majority nations.
