Well, Islam is neither in favour of masturbation nor fornication. Medically, Masturbation is quite harmful than sexual intercourse. It will cause you your hearing weak, blinker vision (low eye sight), acne and memory loss too.

Both are wrong.
Zina is a major sin and for married partners the Hadd is prescribed as punishment.
Masturbation is a lesser crime.
Marriage is the solution to both.

If I remember correctly, Hazrat Shah Hakeem Akhtar Sahab (DB) said something along the line:

Gandagi ko peshab se mat do, nahi tho gandagi aur barjayegay

(rough translation would be "do not clean filth with urine otherwise it will become more dirty")
