Muslims of today do not think that it is necessary to obey all the orders of Allaah and to follow all the Sunnahs. They think- Yes, those are commands which should be obeyed, but we won't obey. Because those do not match with our choice, tradition, society etc etc.

salaaam dear sis,

He does not believe in the principles of Islam, he is a member of a racial nationalist movement called the Nation of Islam. This group calls themselves Muslims but they do not believe in or practice most of the principles of Islam.

Hes not Muslim, he's a member of Nation of Islam, they're very different despite the namesake.

As your father is not Muslim (yet ) it would probably be better to first advise and convince him to bring Iman in the fundamentals of Islam, then tackle that issue say, later on.

Maybe your father is against the abuse of polygyny...which does go on. Many times people do not differentiate.

Try to explain to him the postive benefits of polygyny when it is did correctly.

Can somebody here arrange senior brothers in tabligh to give daawah to sister AlHannah's dad? Forget about polygyny for the moment. Humble request. Nation of Islam is a deviant group.

yes this is very much the case

first try to enlighten him with real Tawheed and real Islam

polygamy is a very secondary issue

sister are you having this discussion with your father because you are planning to become someone's second wife and your father is against it?

No I am not planning to do that. He just brought it up totally out of the blue. He knows I am Muslim so he said "you are never going to marry anyone who believes in more than one woman" completely out of the blue it seems. I have no idea why and if he brings it up and I try to avoid answering it then that will only confirm his dislike for it.

A recent fatwa from a well-know madrasah comes to my mind...
