Default Is this item harram for me?
Well, I will try to make this quick, my uncle gave me a laptop that was stolen(he bought it from someone, who stole it, most likely.), and I have tried to find out INFO. of the owner on the laptop but their is none. Now, I don't know what to do with this laptop. Should I keep it or throw it away??

I don't know what country you're in, but if you're in the U.S. you should turn it over to the police, because it's illegal to [knowingly] be in possession of stolen property.

I can't comment on whether it is haraam or not but I agree with the brother that if you feel it is a stolen item, you should take it to the police.

Some time ago, my son found an Ipod in a park. We took it to the police, they checked their database for anything that matched the item that may have been reported and found nothing, then they had us fill out some forms and off we went. They held the item for some time and then contacted us to let us know that the item had not been claimed and it was now ours if we wanted it.

[Edit: the delicate part is in dealing with it as a gift from your uncle since no-doubt he did not know it was stolen and may feel bad about it... this part is delicate.]

You lay out a lot of assumptions in this case brother. You're "assuming" that the person who your uncle bought the laptop from "most likely" stole it as you said. I'm sure you have a good reason to believe that, but still you don't know for a fact. So, I'm not sure how it works in such a situation.

I would highly recommend you make a trip to your local Masjid for salat and afterwards ask your Imam sahab and/or any other scholars who may be present. If not possible then send the question to one of the fatwa sites, such as http://islamweb.net/emainpage/index....ge=fatwa&tab=3 (their section to enter your question 'closes' daily after they've reached their quota, but if you keep trying reloading the page at different times of the day Insha'Allah you can find it to be open at some point).

Lastly, of course there are scholars on this forum so Insha'Allah one of them will jump in and address this issue.

Allah knows best.
