Default In the pipeline Taleemul Haq Android App
Alhamdullilah I commissioning a developer to created Taleemul Haq as an Android app following on from the success of iTajweed app.

It will be like a book and have the following features:

Thus the features required are.

potrait and landscape viewing.
zoom and pan
flip book left to right
bookmarking sections
search by chapter
search by subject (this may have to be a text based word by word search possibly)
Add favourites
find favourites
basic faq and about pages.
Basic share feature

Will keep you update

*PLEASE SUBSCRIBE TO THIS THREAD AS THE SUPPORT FROM THE LAST THREAD FOR ITAJWEED HELPED THE APP GROW*

Please note any contribution will see you getting the reward from Allah evening one Amal is learnt or practised on.

UPDATE - 11/05/12

So I have decided to scrap the book format originally envisioned but will now create a more 'course' feel that will be teaching and learning to the app.

I will be revisiting the model and keep you posted.

Is there anyone here who is willing to extract content from the PDF to be including in the T&L (teaching and learning) model and anyone who will assist in the build of the product especially teachers who have undergone PTLLS

Here is demo of what the interactive e-learning product intends to fuction like.

Some basic question about the format to deliver the app in.

Here is the 2012 version of taleemul haq http://www.islamicbulletin.org/servi...ils.aspx?id=67
MashAllah to the service that has been done in compiling this, however delivering on a mobile phone requires a different format.

What are the suggestions?

I will need to convert the text in to html/css (this is the basic structure of all websites). it will allow the deliver of the content within the app without relying on external apps i.e. if created in MS word it would require a 3rd party app for viewing. The original text can be created in MS Word and then will be converted to html/css. I bring this point up to raise the issue at hand.

Considering that the deliver is on a mobile phone how much content should each page have?
Please download the PDF and have a think about the format of delivery. Search will be a important feature, so we understand that with a robust search feature most will be able to find exactly what they are looking for and the ability to search by chapter, subject, etc should make it an easy way to find content.

So back to format?

I have opted to flip book style but is this neccessary? would it be easier for them to 'flick' or 'scroll' down pages considering they will find what they are searching for with search tool (not to forget bookmarking and favourites as additional features)

Thus the important factor is the reading experience taking the smallest phone into consideration (zoom and pan will still be an option)

I look at this pdf and it is not correct for mobile viewing.

you thoughts. If anyone takes the trouble to do a simulation with a phone would be better

I not intend to use PDF as it will not resolve the problem as it requires the reliance on another 3rd party app unless you integrate PDF reader. Also if in the future I wanted to integrate audio (there is an audio version of taleemul haq) then you would have to start from scratch. HTML is the way to go with minimum errors. However there is an imporant point you make about PDF keeping and text and images together instead of having to provide seperate image files.

So will need to discuss with a developer and get his thoughts on this.

JazakAllah

The other suggestion is to explicitly split up the kitaab into sections and develop it that way. Especially for new muslims.
May Allah JJ give you strength. Aameen.

Salaam this is a very good idea. i just wnated to include some observations. In regards to how it is displayed ( this might not make sense, but humour me) dont fall into the habit of just displaying a page full of the kitab. which would then need me to zoom in etc. if you keep it similar to the tajweed, but obviosuly the information displayed on the taleemul haq app ion one specific page, should not jampacked. this might like me rambling, bu if something that is displayed and the page looks like a dictionary as there is way too much information on it, it puts me off. Also include a a search and find function

The only reason I was not thinking of html is due to the app performing without internet but I believe delivering in html is still doable without nativeapp thus I will explore html5 and jazakAllah for bringing it to me. Just concerned about the layout so I may put it up to some creative thinkers to come up with a wireframe prior to development.

I will be using a software inshAllah to recreate the e-learning product. This software allows record screen, import power point, import quizzes, etc.

Essentially I need to collaborate with others to create the product into an e-learning. I think Taleemul Haq is already there somewhat but is there aspects of it that we can reinvent as a learning program and not a book. If so I can incorporate into a website and app.
