Default Mind Persistently Telling Me, Did I Just Accidentally Touch The Napaaki
I try do what is required in terms of cleanliness but my mind persistently tells me did I wipe properly, did I just drop the wet tissue on the napaak floor etc, did I wash my hands 3 times?

Failure to pay heed to these questions leads to a potentially larger issue in that my mind says that if my hands are still napaak the repercussions of touching other things, e.g. the towel and cross-contaminating them has much worse consequences in that there is then the distinct potential of perpetual napaaki and no ibadah being accepted.

I have tried CBT. I have tried telling myself, what does shariat require me to do in this situation, but the problem is not abating, because the thought of cross-contamination is overwhelming.

My memory in paaki/napaaki situations persistently fails me. Either I cannot remember how many times I washed or I cannot remember if I washed at all, and hence I continue to muse over situations without being able to come to a distinctive conclusion.

Furthermore, I can feel my anxiety rise everytime I go to the toilet because I know these questions of cross contamination and manifest uncertainty are going to arise, to such an extent that I will feel extreme mental discomfort.

I am based in the UK and would be grateful if someone could point me in the direction of a reputable scholar, who is also a doctor and would be able to assist in this matter.

Salaamu alaiykum
I sense a hint of waswasa involved here if I read correctly.

Assalaamu 'alaykum ww
May Allah subhaanahu wata'ala grant you ease.

I know a few people who suffer from this and one solution one sister was given is that you have someone there while performing wudhu who will confirm that you have washed according to the shar'iat and you are clean... so obviously the towel is clean and your clothes are clean, that nothing went on the floor to make it unclean etc. It will take patience on their part but insha Allah could be the solution. The sister was given a time limit in the bathroom as well and a family member would knock and tell her she was now clean and had to come out. Her problem is under control on the whole.

The reality however is that our extremely kind and merciful Lord has made so many things easy for us so don’t let Shaytaan deceive you. Tell him this: "My Extremely kind and merciful Lord says I'm clean so I'm clean...do what you may I shall perform prayer and He will accept through His grace"
