Just curious why I always see only one type of font for Urdu writing.
Isn't it too boring to read the same font over and over again?
Is it possible to use an arabic-style Urdu script? (i.e. not on a slant, but all leveled horizontally like the arabic script)

Yes, that's a good font, much less slant. But how come newspapers and books do not use that font?

the nastaliq urdu font is designed to be use less space, and make it more fluent for the reader to read it. If you look at farsi fonts you will realize that nastaliq is much better. : )

even arabic writing is sometimes very difficult to read,,,,

The other day i saw Kanzud Daqaaiq and i thought the commentary was in urdu because of the slant in the writing, but in fact it was Arabic

i am learning how to read urdu now, but cant read font in news papers

but the font given by sister is good, i can read it

it should be written openly so that we can read it easily, but many books have fonts written closely which irritates

Naskh has been rendered well in the urdu Naskh Asiatype font used by bbc urdu. I haven't come across any good renditions of Nasta'leeq.

Among the generic fonts Microsoft sans serif and tahoma support urdu-specific characters. IMHO Microsoft Sans Serif is the better one of the two.

i was able to read BismikAllahumma's font clearly

I shared your concern when I started opening the bigger books.. but over the years my admiration for the nastaleeq font for hashiyas have increast because of the sheer amount of info they write in the small areas.. Check the new Hidaya copies.. They dont have the up and down of the hashiyas. I like the straight hashiyas because I dont like to turn the books about..and also that many students do not keep that lihaaz and do flip flop the books... and also my neck starts to hurt tilting. But in some kitaab you have to make do with the up/down hashiyas..

"Nafees Web Naskh" is very beautiful style. See the image attached, I wrote it in WordPad.

Of course it is khatka.

Khatka (fear) and jhopda (hut) - choice of words themselves is remarkable. It brings the feelings in their raw state out of your heart.
