Can we pray random, non-fard non-sunnah non-nawafil salah whenever we want to (aside from at the forbidden times) just to worship Allah?

For example, imagine it's nighttime and I already prayed `Ishaa'. If I were to pray 2 rakah with the intention of "Just to worship Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala)" and not as part of Witr, Tahajjud, etc., is that OK?

Yes you can pray 2 rakats of salah at any time other than the forbidden time. This is considered as nawafil prayer.

I was also taught that you can also make 2 raka'at upon hearing something good that may affect your life (as long as it's not in forbidden time.)
