salam alaikum'
many people say that shias commit shirk almost every day if not everyday. i agree with that too and also it states in the quran that people must not build shrines over dead bodies ex: imam husein shrine, karbala, iraq. but why in medina did they expand the mousqe and get prophet mohmmed's(PBUH) grave in the building. wouldnt that be haram. people may not pray to him but in the future you may never know. so why is it still their? jazakallahkhair |

There is no such agreed upon blanket prohibition on shrines among sunnis. It has existed for ages among sunnis too. And youll find a wide range of opinions on this issue approached from different angles. And scholars like Ibn Hazm did use the grave of the Prophet and the two companions besides it, as proof for the legality of it.
