Default Re-Learning how to read Quran from scratch - Advice
Salaam,
I am looking to learn Arabic (reading Quran) from scratch.
Unfortunately I have no confidence in what I am reading is correct so have decided to get myself a teacher and start from scratch from the qaeda.
Alhamdulillah I think I have found a teacher who has come highly recommended by a couple of friends but he is away for a few weeks so Inshallah when he is back I will start with him.
Inshallah I intend to learn with Tajweed.
Does anyone have any tips on what I should do in the meantime whilst he is not here and how i can prepare etc?
Also looking at which Quran to buy there seems to be many different types/fonts etc what is recommended for a beginner?
Thanks

Asalaam

Pronounciation is my main thing, rules a person can incorporated fairly quickly, learning to pronounce letters properly takes some longer than others, praactice is everything, my advice is learn to pronounce and practice all the time not rigidly, learn where the letter comes from and then exaggerate so you become more accustommed to it.

One of the best and fastest way to learn how to read the Quran properly on our own is to listen to a Qari (recording) and repeat after them while they are reciting, while looking in the mushaf. In the beginning it will be difficult but in'sha Allah, slowly but steadily, the recitation will definitely improve and one will be amazed at the speed at how well the recitation improves. My teacher recommends this and she herself did this when she started learning.

But the key to success is consistency. Even if it is for ten minutes or so, it should be done everyday.

JazakAllah for everyone's advice.

Can anyone recommend a suitable style Quran to buy ? font size and clarity of letters?
My eye sight isn't the best so I do require one that is decent in size.
Which font is easier to read or does that not matter?

Also I was speaking to a brother a few weeks ago (salafi brother) nto that it should make a difference and he asked me how I learnt the quran i.e what style I said it was Alif, Baa etc he said he has re-learnt it with Aleedf Baee Taee style (not sure if readers can make out what I am getting at)?
But does this matter? or why is there such a big difference in the way they are pronounced? He said a Somalian qari taught him ?
