Asalaamu alaykum,
I am not a new Muslim do didn't post under there but tonight I have learnt about just how many different variations there seem to be on the prayer salaat recitations and it made me really confused. I was listening to a lecture and something we all grew up saying was classed as a biddah in this lecture. I have a few questions but can I just ask to start with to any one following the Shafi Madhab if this is right? We start the prayer (even females) saying Allah Akbar Allah Akbar and basically say what the imam would say when calling for adhan except with slight differences. We say the following Allah Akbar Allah Akbar. Ashadhu Allaa Ilaaha Illallah. Ashadhu Anna Muhamada Rasoolallahu. Hayyaa la salaat. Hayya la falaah. Gadh gaa ma thi salaat gadh gaa mathi salaat. Allah Akbar Allah Akbar. Laa ilaaha illAlaah. This is before niyyat and stuff by the way. Brothers do the same except they don't say Gadh gaa mathi salaat and they say Allah Akbar four times and the other parts are each said twice. However, after this I think it's all the same completely. Am I doing an innovation? I've got a couple more questions but I'll wait Insha Allah for a response to this first. |

I think you are asking about the "Iqamah" (ie call just before commencing solat)
In Shafi'e, the iqamah is Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar Ashhadu allaa ilaaha illallaah Ashhadu annaa muhammadar rasoolullaah Hayya 'alas solaah, Hayya 'alal falaah Qadqaamatis solaatu, Qadqaamatis solaah Allaahu akbar, Allaahu akbar Laa ilaaha illallaah The iqamah wordings are the same for men and women. wallaahu a'lam. |

I think you are asking about the "Iqamah" (ie call just before commencing solat) Alhamdulillah your answer helped me so much. I saw it ages ago but for some reason I didn't reply at the time and then never have come back on the forums till now again. I am really sorry for not having replied earlier but i Just wanted to say thank you for having taken the time to have helped me in this thread and a couple of the other threads I posted too. May Allah (swt) give you rewards for your help and grant you Jannah Insha Allah. Ameen. |
