Masha'Allah, Allahu'Akbar... congratulations bro!

Allah has indeed blessed you with an amazing gift, so make sure to always cherish it the best you possibly can.

Check out this website for some nice & interesting videos about learning the Arabic alphabet as well as some tajweed lessons:

http://l2rq.com/

As another brother said, continue to learn from your father and pick his brain. In fact, sometimes parents can end up learning more about the deen because of their children, because if the children keep asking them questions which they don't know, then they are forced to learn themselves because they want to be able to teach their children properly. It's a win-win situation for both parties Insha'Allah.

May Allah make it easy for you and bless you and your family with all that is good in this life and the hereafter. Ameen.

Thumbs up!!!

MashAllah. Welcome back to islam dear brother. Whats your islamic name ?
I was given the name Mohammed Yusef when I reverted, but I didn't chose that name.

I'm not adopting it. I'm keeping my name as it is.

I don't need scholars. I am learning everything from my family.

I don't know, but kind of dislike the way some Muslims say things. I'm a white English boy but some people speak to me as if I should now be wearing Pakistani clothing or something, or that I should be totally separate from anyone who isn't Muslim from now on and things like that. I really don't know what that's all about and I really don't like it.

Keep on learning, that will help you to identify which one is cultural and which one is sunnah of the Prophet . Learning and moderation are two things that seem simple enough, but not many people can stick to it. You're lucky to have someone who can be your teacher in your family.

Don't worry about all those things at the moment. Just that:

The culture of Islam is the sunnah of the Last Prophet, Prophet Muhammad [Peace & blessings be upon him] There is no India, Pakistan, Arab stuff.

Relax bro you'll be absolutely fine inshaAllah!

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh

we all need scholars brother but you are young and don't need to think about anything like that now.

just learn the basics of the religion and anything else will come to you when you are ready for it and Allah wants it to.

lol forgive the Asian Muslims if they try and turn you into an Asian as for many it is hard to distinguish between traditional culture and Islam .

In Islam we don't have to separate from non-Muslims and in fact we have to treat them well, be honest and fair with them

and especially with any relations we have who are non-Muslims - we are not allowed to separate from them,

but at the same time Allah likes us Muslims to be together as a team

there are many white Muslims on Sunniforum as well as Asians and Arabs and others

and i guess if you have particular issues then you could start threads on them so you can benefit from their experiences InshaAllah.

Your story was inspirational. May Allah keep us on his deen. Stick to learning/practising the basics for now and keep in good company.
