Salam,
I have this opportunity of doing Khidmat task at hajj this year. It will involve a training session before but alhamdulilah I am also studying Ilm -e- Deen so I have pretty sound knowledge already. The package is pretty cheap plus it ensures a stay of 3 months in Makkah alongwith the opportunity of doing khdimat of the pilgrims.
I just did Niyah to send my parents in 2013 inshAllah then I got this opportunity. I need advices on what to do as I haven't done Hajj before so I am not aware. I have to quit my current job and find a new one, that wouldn't be an issue for me inshAllah. I am not the sole supporter of the family being the youngest so this wouldn't be much of an issue. Any suggestions? Positive or negative? JazakAllah. My purpose of asking is to get the know how from those who have gone to Hajj.

Also the opportunity sounds so appealing that I would like to request you to share if possible the package with whom you are travelling. A close family member has been on the look out to go and it would insh aa Allah be much appreciated.

Salam, Ahsaunuljaza sister in Islam.

Actually it's something different from the regular package. My Ustaz(who is mashAllah a mufti) told us about this offer that is given by the Govt. of Pakistan to serve the pilgrims. Things like if someone is lost, you should locate him. Make sure the people are fulfilling the arakeen-e-hajj and the wajibaat etc. You have to be there before the first pilgrim reaches untill the last one leaves the haram after Hajj so that would be around 3 months. People make mistakes and later on regret. I just have to pay like Rs. 130k at the moment and in return would get 1000 Riyals for providing service each month.
What appealed to me the most is 3 months in HARAM + Khdimat e hujjaj!
But I just wanted to get opinions of people here. I mean if someone says "don't go there, I have seen such people are made to sleep on the streets" etc.

Masha Allah certainly a great opportunity and much worth it. I sincerely doubt such stories about being made to sleep on streets,etc. The khuddam I would expect to be kept close to where pilgrims are. But then again brother...those streets are of Makkah Mukarrama...if one loves the sacred city they wouldnt mind it...i think. Just carry a good sleeping bag for emergency. Insha aa Allah if a persons niyah is full of ikhlas it is Allah taala who is the provider and if you still dont get a soft bed there...your willing acceptance of whatever you get and the sincere service you provide to the pilgrims ..may be enough to accord you a soft bed in Jannah insh aa Allah. forgive me again for getting carried away...but Makkah is Makkah...May Allah taala accept you and your niyyah.ameen.

Out of the blue this opportunity came, I hope my beloved Allah invites me there. I am not even worthy of sitting on the streets of that blessed place.

I've seen old/young people lost, crying... and the saudi khuddam don't speak an inch of any other language other than arabic. may Allah (s.w.t) make it easy for you.
Hope you are fit and can walk long distances. if not, you have to start walking daily from now ... so that you get used to it.
