Is Istinja part of wudu?
I understand if you touch your private parts, wuzu is broken, and if Istinja is part of wudu, then using your hands for Istinja would break your wudu...? I am slightly confused on the matter, and I would appreaciate some help. Jazakallah. |

Is Istinja part of wudu? In Shafii madhab, however, wudu will be nullified by touching [both of] private organs with the interior parts of one's hand. Hence a person adhering to Shafii school of thought, if touches a private organ of a baby while say changing the diapers, his/her wudu will be void. |

Is Istinja part of wudu? As already mentioned by sheikh according to Hanafi Madhab wudhu doesn't break if one touches the private parts. Here the causes that breaks ghusl and wudhu. Wudu and Ghusl according to Hanafi Madhab First you need to understand the 2 states of impurity: Major impurity and Minor impurity. To become free from the state of Major impurity one has to perform Ghusl(bath). To become free from the state of Minor impurity one has to perform Wudu. Note: To perform Salah one has to be free from both Major and Minor impurity. Now i shall mention the factors which cause these impurities, Remember the factors which causes Minor impurity will invalidate Wudu, And the causes of Major impurity will invalidate Ghusl: Minor impurity is caused by 6 factors: (Breaks Wudu) w1. Anything which exits from the Private parts, both front and back (eg: passing gas or feaces, urinating etc). w2. Discharge of Blood, pus or serum from any part of the body. w3. Vomiting, if it was a mouthful. w4. Sleeping. ie Lying down, or leaning [on one's side] or reclining such that if it were removed he would fall. w5. Loss of consciousness through fainting or insanity. w6. Laughter in any prayer containing ruku` and sujud. Major impurity is caused by 4 factors: (Breaks Ghusl) g1. Emission of semen from a man or a woman accompanied with excitement. g2. Contact of the private parts, even without ejaculation. g3. Menstruation. g4. Post-natal bleeding (ie after delivery). |

Salamu alaikum, can you clarify this one please? (from the list of things that break wudu that you posted). I know sleeping breaks wudu, but in the last part of that sentence it seems to be saying that lying down or leaning against a wall breaks wudu basically It means not all sleep breakls wudhu, only sleep in certain positions does such as lying down or leaning on something like a wall such that if the wall was removed, the person would fall to the floor. From what I understand, sleeping in a certain sitting position does not break wudhu but most positions do |
