Assalam alikum wa rahmat Allah.

The purpose of khalwah is to be busy with the work of akhirah.

The most important work of khalwah is to cut the hadith of nafs until ones dhikr becomes solid , clear and strong.

The benefits of Khalwah A[SIZE=6].

Improves one in dhikr (remembrance of Allah SWT) and fikr (contemplation)1. Imam Ghazali RA mentions that dhikr and fikr are one of the highest forms of ibadah. Doing fikr in the creation of Allah SWt, in malakut, and knowing the secrets of him subhana wa taala.

2. Likewise, Any one who is not enjoying company of Allah SWt has made himself too busy with the company of the creation (the world). Imam stress that if a person can not be with Allah swt while mixing with people then it is obligatory for him to be without people and be in khalwah to develop affinity with Allah azi wajal . for that reason prophet SAS in the beginning of nobowah (prophet hood)did uzlat (seclusion). He (sas ) went to the cave of ha’ra and cut from people until the light of nubowat strengthen in his heart and he achieved a level that he was bodily with people but his heart was always with Allah aziwajal. In a hadith prophet SAS said if I wanted to choose a friend for myself, I would have chosen Abu Bakr. But Allah SWT’s friendship did not leave any place of other friendship for me.

3. In Summery Imam RA mentions that if a person is able to get used to continuous dhikr , or with continuous fikr gains ilm and marifah, this is the highest form of worship that any earthly human can achieve . The highest form of success is that uns and love of Allah be dominant in one’s life. Mohabah (love of Allah) is the end result of marifah (knpwing Allah) and marifah is the end result of fikr(contemplation) in him. All these one achieve with doing khalwah.

B. Second benefit of khalwah is that it free one from committing various sins.One being in khalwah will be free of dangerous sins such as ;

1. ghaibah (back biting) participating or hearing ghaibah threaten ones deen.

2. Amr be maroof and nahi monkar (calling to good and forbidding from eviel) if one is quiet where he should have been calling to good and forbidding from evil then he has committed sin. If he does not go along with people then they will call him fasig. And if he cooperate with their wrong actions then he will fall in ryia (hierocracy)
3. Ryia and nifag (show off , ostentation and hypocrisy) if one has to deal with two person who has conflict if he go along with both they will call him hypocrite but if he does not cooperate both will be enemies with him. .

C.The third benefit of khalwah is protection from other peoples harm.1. Being with people one participate knowingly or unknowingly in sin of bad dhann( suspicion), geibah , and having bad thoughts for others(bad gomani)
2. One free from bad mouthing (bad zabani)
3. Does not waste time in entertaining , inviting or being guest to othe

D. Lower expectation from others and vice versa.

1. People expect very little from one who is in seclusion and like wise the person expect very little from others. these expectations generally result in lots of problems and sins for most people.
2. Less desire of world in ones heart
Being with people one has to constantly deal with (hirs) too much desire for what others have.
Allah SWT say , more or less!(20/131) do not look with desire what we have given to some people it is worldly pomp it wont last too long(my translation)
Hadith: Prophet SAS said do not look at their beautiful dunya because that is their fitnah (trial)
Hadith: do not look at the ones who are above you in worldly sense. It will Allah SWT’s be little in your eyes .


D. He will be free from being with or seeing stupid people
