It is permitted due to necessity (ie. He can't treat her without seeing/touching those parts), but it is better for the woman to seek a female ob/gyn.

If the treatment is connected to the private parts of a woman, then only in extreme situations will it be permitted for her to be treated by a male doctor.

See: http://daruliftaa.com/question.asp?t...nID=q-21462618

someone asked if it was okay for male gynecologist to treat her. she is going in for ivf treatments to get pregnant after 9 years of trying to concieve, which the doctor has to take out her embryros and take the husband sperms and mix it together at a medical lab and insert it back in the female for her to get pregnant, this is the only way she could get pregnant, the doctor instructed it to her?

Is it Halal for a Muslim male to study gynecology? It is obvious he would have to treat female patients after it.

Yeah it is strange for 3 reasons. 1 as female "expert" gynecologists are present and 2nd Ob/Gyn is a VERY tough field. Its not as easy as other specialities. And 3rd, there is a constant rejection from females for not allowing males to examine, atleast on a daily basis. The resistance affects one work.

Still, there are some men who want to be gynecologists. May be its down to either real passion and career path for this field or blocking of Drs other specialization, so they chose the next best.
