Default In The Shadow of Western Scholarship
One of the numerous western techniques to undermine Islam is to assert that it is a mere rehashing of earlier teachings. To an unwary person this might sound like a big blow to the beautiful edifice. In reality it is nothing more than a paper tiger. The Noble Qur'an clearly acknowledges the old teachings were also from God and then moves on to other things after telling us that the earlier teachings were modified by their practitioners and that the Noble Qur'an will be protected by God for later times.

But then there is another golden rule, discovered about a century ago in Germany, that if you keep repeating a lie then it shall become a truth. The latest practitioner of this sorcery is Tom Holland. Poor intellectual fails to get any historical evidence for Islam. And he is kind enough not to declare Islam ahistorical.

Quite unimpressive and defies commonsense that he expects Haroon Rashid and his band of men were creating fables that lead to formation of Islam and the Muslim world from China to Africa silently accepted those fables. And worse, those enemy's of islam couldn't notice it and use it to attack islam.

Only the last part of the review seems worth a point in that Quran at several places refers to the pagans making the same attack against the Quran. Therefore, it is well within Quranic scope for people like him to attempt such attack. Nothing new to us. Infact, there are plenty of pagan arguments that are made mention of in the Quran which are today being repeated by modern day atheists to question the Quran and the religion.

Indeed that is how Allah(SWT) guides some people and uses the same information to misguide some others who have been committing atrocities on their nafs.

I don't usually listen to the radio, but I turned on a radio at a relatives house heard this guy speaking on radio 4.

He is the biggest Joker I have ever heard, he reminds me of the man who wrote a book on how Muslims really worship a moon god not the God of Abraham (as).

This guy isn't even a real orientalist, he is a fiction writer who has spent his adult life writing stories about vampires etc and then only moved on to more factual works about 9 years ago.

http://www.convilleandwalsh.com/inde...r/tom-holland/

I found out the following about him from Wikipedia...

Tom Holland (author)

Tom Holland (born 1968) is a British novelist.

Holland was born near Oxford and brought up in the village of Broadchalke near Salisbury, England. He obtained a double First in English and Latin at Queens' College, Cambridge.[1] He has adapted Herodotus, Homer, Thucydides and Virgil for BBC Radio 4.

His novels are set in the past, and generally include a supernatural/horror element.

his fiction books are

The Vampyre: Being the True Pilgrimage of George Gordon, Sixth Lord Byron (1995), ISBN 0-316-91227-1 (published in the U.S. as Lord of the Dead)

Supping with Panthers (1996), ISBN 0-316-87622-4 (published in the U.S. as Slave of My Thirst)

Attis (1995), ISBN 0-7490-0213-1

The Vampyre: Being the True Pilgrimage of George Gordon, Sixth Lord Byron (1995), ISBN 0-7515-1361-X

Deliver Us from Evil (1997), ISBN 0-316-88248-8

The Sleeper in the Sands (1998), ISBN 0-316-64480-3

The Bonehunter (2001), ISBN 0-316-64819-1

The Poison in the Blood (2006), ISBN 0-349-11964-3

The Importance of Being Frank (first professional performance 1991, text published 1997), ISBN 0-9530587-1-9

his so-called "Non-fiction" books are

Rubicon: The Last Years of the Roman Republic (2003), ISBN 0-316-86130-8
Persian Fire: The First World Empire and the Battle for the West (2005), ISBN 0-316-72664-8
Millennium: The End of the World and the Forging of Christendom (2008), ISBN 978-0-316-73245-1
"The Persian Way of War", essay in Lapham's Quarterly, Winter 2008.
In The Shadow Of The Sword: The Battle for Global Empire and the End of the Ancient World (2012), ISBN 1408700077

the important thing to realize about this guy is

1. He is not a qualified orientalists or a western academic of any field relevant to Middle Eastern history

2. It is clear that he has no understanding of classical Arabic that would give him access to the original historical sources

3. rather than having studied any relevant field at university he studied English and Latin

despite all these facts the kuffar media people will probably try to build him up into some big thing as part of their war against Islam.
