What is the proper way to ask Allah swt by the Prophet ﷺ? I always thought of it as adding "Bi jaa habib Muhammad" at the end is this correct?

The correct way to ask through the intercession of Rasoolullah is to perform Wudu in a good manner then pray two Raka'ah of optional Salah then say the following Du'a:

‏ اللَّهُمَّ إنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ وَأَتَوَجَّهُ إلَيْكَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ ‏نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ يَا‏ ‏مُحَمَّدُ‏ ‏إنَّيْ قَدْ تَوَجَّهْتُ بِكَ إلَى رَبِّيْ فِيْ حَاجَتِيْ هَذِهِ ‏ ‏لِتُقْضَى اللَّهُمَّ فَشَفِّعْهُ فِيَّ

O Allah, I ask of You and I turn my face towards You by virtue of the intercession of Muhammad the Prophet of mercy. O Muhammad, I have turned to my Lord by virtue of your intercession concerning this need of mine so that it may be met. O Allah, accept his intercession concerning me.

This method has been prescribed by Rasoolullah himself in various authentic narrations. (Sunan ibn Majah, at Tirmidhi, Nasa'i, Musnad Imam Ahmad, al Mustadrak li Hakim, Dalailun Nabuwwah lil Bayhaqi, al Adhkar lin Nawawi). These have been authenticated by many great Muhaditheen such as Abu Ishaq and at Tirmidhi (radhiyallahu 'anhum).
