Default Salaah
Brother

When we read Salaah..

"Atthayyato Lillahe Wassalawato Wat Tayyebato Assalamu Alaika Ayyohan Nabiyo Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatoh Assalamu Alaina Wa Ala ibadillahis Sualaiheen Ashadu An La ilaah illal Laho Wa Ashadu Anna Mohammadan Abdohoo Wa Rasooluhoo"

Now read this Durood Sharif, "Allah Humma Salle Ala Mohammadiyon Wa Ala Ale Mohammadin Kama Sallaita Aala ibraheema Wa Ala Aalay ibraheema inna Ka Hameedum Majeed. Allah Humma Baarik Aala Mohammadiyon Wa Ala Ale Mohammadin Kama Barakta Ala ibraheema Wa Ala Ale ibraheema inna Ka Hameedum Majeed." Wait a little.

"Allah Humma Rabbana Aatina Fid Dunya Hasanah Wa Fil Akhirate Hasanah Wa Qina Azaban Naar."

If its 4 Sunnah or 4 fards, in the 2nd rakaat we recite the above, do we recite the same in the last rakaat aswell?

Also when i read with the imaam, i read the above and after i read it i have to wait 2 or 3 mins for the imaam to do salaam?

Is that correct?

you only recite the Atahiyat in the sitting of the second rakaat and only in the last sitting should all of the above be recited

it dont matter if you wait a while for Imam to finish; wait for him to finish and finish along with him; if you wait 2-3 minutes for Imam to finish, maybe you read it too fast; you should not rush it too much for to pray the salaah in a calm manner is wajib, so try to recite a little slower and finish approxiamately the same time as Imam

Okay so for example if its 4 rakats i read attahyyato ( i don't read durood sharif or a dua) only in the 2nd rakah and then in the last rakah i recite attahyyato and durood sharif and dua? is that correct?

Is that the same with 3 fards?

This is a very good video on YouTube showing how to make salaat, please watch the whole thing as many times as needed to fully understand. Insha'Allah you will find it beneficial:

brother, i assume you are a Hanafi; here is a great Hanafi site that will teach you how to pray step by step; and also all the sunnah's, wajibs, fardhs, and mustahabs of salaah:

yup; Hanafi and the same with any salaah at all; more than two rakaahs are prayed in this way

in two rakaahs salaah, one says all the recitations in the last sitting, i.e atahiyat, allahumma solliala, etc,

but do you know that in 3 rakaat witr [which is wajib], on the thisd rakaah you have to read another surah too after faatihah, and then say Allahuakbar raising your hands upto ears again and then hold both hands on waist again and read dua e Qunut, or any dua would do such as the one said in last sitting position [allahumma inni zalamthu nafsi]

Yes, you got it right brother. Also same for 3 rakat (Witr and Maghrib).

Sallam, the video shows how to read salaah and he did not read the dua after durood sharif?

"Allah Humma Rabbana Aatina Fid Dunya Hasanah Wa Fil Akhirate Hasanah Wa Qina Azaban Naar."

And also he read the attyahto and durood shairf?

Ain't it suppose to be reading attyahto only then last rakat all of it?

Or the video is showing only 2 rakahs?

brother,

Yes you're right, the video is showing only 2 rakat so that's why he's reading both atthiyato and durood sharief in the last rakat. If it was 4 rakat, then he would read only atthiyato in the 2nd rakat, stand up and then after sitting in the 4th rakat (or 3rd rakat if Maghrib or Witr), he would read atthiyato and durood sharief.

As far as the dua after durood, that is optional and not obligatory to do so, and I guess that's why they didn't show it in that video, as they are just trying to cover the very basics of salat only. Insha'Allah your salat will be valid even if you choose not to read the dua after durood in the last rakat. For example, let's say you are making sunnahs in the masjid before the jamaat starts for any salat, and as you are reading atthiyat and durood in the last rakat, they start giving the iqamat, so now you don't really have time to read the dua after durood. In this case, you can leave out the dua after durood and just say salam after durood so you can go join the jamaat from the beginning. This is just one practical example, though you can leave it out at any time since it is not required.

Also, the dua you quoted (Rabbana aatina...) is one of the several duas which can be read at the end of salah after durood. There are some others as well, and one has the option to read none, one, or even more than one if they choose. Insha'Allah it is virtuous to at least read one dua after durood (though absolutely not required to do so). The dua you quoted is also one of my favorites as it is very "thorough" and "complete", and it is very short and easy to memorize/read... in fact I believe it is called "the most complete dua" by scholars if I am not mistaken. Insha'Allah if we recite it often, in salah and outside of salah, Allah will accept it and we will have the best in this world and in the hereafer while being saved from the fire, INSHA'ALLAH. Ameen.

I hope that makes sense.

Allah knows best.

Yes, that's exactly what iqamah is. Below is a quote from wikipedia explaining it:

The word 'iqamah' or ikamet (Arabic: إقامة‎) refers to the second call to Islamic Prayer, given immediately before the prayer begins. Generally speaking, the iqamah is given more quickly and in a more monotone fashion, as compared to the adhan, as it is addressed to those already in the mosque rather than a reminder for those outside it to go to the mosque. It differs from the first call to prayer, the adhan in only one place (line 6, below):

Recital Arabic Transliteration Translation

2x الله اكبر الله اكبر āllahu ākbar, āllahu ākbar God is Greatest, God is Greatest,

2x اشهد ان لا اله الا الله āsh'hadu ān lā ilaha illā-llah I assert that there is no god but God,

2x اشهد ان محمد رسول الله āsh'hadu ānna mūhammadār rasūlu-llah I assert that Muhammad is the Messenger of God,

2x حي على الصلاة hayyā `alā-s-salat Come to prayer,

2x حي على الفلاح hayyā `alā-l-falāh Come to worship,

2x قد قامت الصلاة qad qāma tis-salaat Stand for prayer,

1x الله اكبر الله اكبر āllahu ākbar, āllahu ākbar God is Greatest, God is Greatest,

1x لا اله الا الله lā ilaha illā-llah There is no god but God

According to the Hanafi school of thought, the content of the Iqama is the same as the Adhan i.e. the number of times the lines are recited are the same, but with 'Stand for prayer' read twice after 'Come to salvation'. And here's a video with a brother saying the iqamat: http://youtu.be/m0CH3yQeHQQ. The time between the Adhan and the Iqamah is one where a Muslim's dua is Insha'Allah always accepted (hadith).

Allah knows best.
