Malik who said: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) sent Busaisah as a scout to see what the caravan of Abu Sufyan was doing. He came (back and met the Holy Prophet in his house) where there was nobody except myself and the Messenger of Allah. I do not remember whether he (Hadrat Anas) made an exception of some wives of the Holy Prophet (may peace be upon him)or not and told him the news of the caravan. (Having heard the news), the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) came out (hurriedly), spoke to the people and said: "We are in need (of men); whoever has an animal to ride upon ready with him should ride with us." People began to ask him permission for bringing their riding animals which were grazing on the hillocks near Medina. He said: "No. (I want) only those who have their riding animals ready." So the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) and his Companions proceeded towards Badr and reached there forestalling the polytheists (of Mecca). When the polytheists (also) reached there, the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: "None of you should step forward to (do) anything unless I am ahead of him." The polytheists (now) advanced (towards us), and the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said. "Get up to enter Paradise which is equal in width to the heavens and the earth." 'Umair b. al-Humam al-Ansari said: "Messenger of Allah, is Paradise equal in extent to the heavens and the earth?" He said: "Yes." 'Umair said:" My goodness!" The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) asked him: "What prompted you to utter these words (i.e. my goodness !')?" He said: "Messenger of Allah, nothing but the desire that I be among its residents." He said: "Thou art (surely) among its residents." He took out dates from his bag and began to eat them. Then he said: "If I were to live until I have eaten all these dates of mine, it would be a long life." (The narrator said): He threw away all the dates he had with him. Then he fought the enemies until he was killed. Sahih Muslim, The Book on Leadership, Hadith Number:5024, Narrated by: Anas Ibn-Malik The quote in Arabic: لَئِنْ أَنَا حَيِيتُ حَتَّى آكُلَ تَمَرَاتِى هَذِهِ إِنَّهَا لَحَيَاةٌ طَوِيلَةٌ "If I were to live until I have eaten all these dates of mine, it would be a long life." Edit: Can someone who knows Arabic confirm this. ![]() |

Jazkhallah brother ![]() I got the full english text of the hadith couldn't find the arabic yet. Will try ![]() Imam Ahmad has narrated in his Musnad (Book of Hadith 1/310) [and a similar narration is in Ibn Majah (4020)] That Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad, (may Allah bless and grant him peace) said, "On the night in which I was taken by a night Journey, a pleasant fragrance came my way, and so I said, "O Gabriel! What is this pleasant fragrance?" He said, "This is the fragrance of the hairdresser of Pharaoh's daughter, and [of the hairdresser]'s children." I said, "What is her situation?" He said, "While she was combing Pharaoh's daughter's hair one day, the comb fell from her hand, so she said, "In the name of Allah." Pharaoh's daughter asked, "[You mean] my father?" She said, "No, rather my Lord, and the Lord of your father, is Allah." She said, "Shall I tell him that?" She (the hairdresser) said, "Yes." Thus, she told him (her father) and he (Pharaoh) summoned her and said, “O so and so, Do you have a Lord other than me?” She (the hairdresser) answered, “Yes, my Lord and your Lord, Allah.” The hadith goes on to describe that a huge brass pot was heated, and it was ordered for her and her children to be cast therein. She requested from Pharaoh - and he acceded to her request - that her bones and her children's bones be gathered in a single cloth and buried. Her children were then thrown into the cauldron one by one before her eyes, until they got to a suckling infant, and it seemed she wavered on account of him, but he said, "O mother! Jump in, for the torture of this world is lighter than the punishment of the Hereafter." So she jumped in. |

Ibn Majah 4030. It was narrated from Ubayy bin Ka'b that on the night when he(saw) was taken on the Night Journey (Isra') , the Messenger of Allah(saw) noticed a good fragrance and said: "O Jibra'il, what is this good fragrance?" He said: "This is the fragrance of the grave of the hairdresser and her two sons and her husband." He said: "That began when Khadir, who was one of the nobles of the Children of Israel, used to pass by a monk in his cell. The monk used to meet him and he taught him Islam. When Khadir reached adolescence, his father married him to a woman. He taught her and made her promise not to teach it to anyone. He used not to touch women, so he divorced her, then his father married him to another woman, and he taught her and made her promise not to teach it to anyone. One of them kept the secret but the other disclosed it, so he fled until he came to an island in the sea. Two men came, gathering firewood, and saw him. One of them kept the secret but the other disclosed it and said: 'I have seen Khadir.' It was said: 'Who else saw him besides you?' He said:' So-and so.' (The other man) was questioned but he kept silent. According to their religion, the liar was to be killed. The woman who had kept the secret got married, and while she was combing the hair of Pharaoh's daughter, she dropped the comb and said: 'May Pharaoh perish!' (The daughter) told her father about that. The woman had two sons and a husband. (Pharaoh) sent for them, and tried to make the woman and her husband give up their religion, but they refused. He said: 'I am going to kill you.' They said: 'It would be an act of kindness on your part, if you kill us, to put us in one grave.' So he did that." When the Prophet(saw) was taken on the Night Journey , he noticed a good fragrance and asked Jibril about it and he told him." |
