![]() 7 mil is not really a huge amount to spend on a project like this, especially if it's a large building with many facilities and serves as a community center. Especially in non-Muslim countries, it's important to have nice masajid that present an inviting face to the public, and a well-equipped community center. The cost of construction is not a recurring thing. Once the masjid is established, of course they should use it as a place to gather and raise funds for other charitable work. I doubt the gold crescent is actual solid gold, although I am opposed to excessive decoration, it's tacky and a waste of money. The problems of poverty in the world will not be solved permanently simply by donating money; there are massive changes in economic policy that have to take place. |
